Where do i even begin? From the food, to the ambience, down to the DECOR! everything speaks for itself. i love it here so much and so does my family. the staff is so welcoming and friendly. Have never had a bad experience and the odds are i probably never will. Have been eating here for the last 3 years and will be for years to come. 10/10 will always recommend.

Parrillada Costambar is a true gem in Paterson! The flavors are outstanding and truly authentic Dominican cuisine—fresh, well-seasoned, and always delicious.

I’ve been a long-time customer for both dine-in and catering for special events, and they are consistently excellent every single time. The delicious rotisserie chicken paired with flavorful Moro rice is always on point, with generous portions and great prices for the quality.

If you want authentic Dominican food with amazing flavor and value, this place is a must. Highly recommended! Am Dominican! I know what authentic food tastes like! I only wish they delivered to Sparta NJ to save me 1 hour drive!

Found this place via TikTok where someone recommended it for its authenticity. Drove 30mins to Paterson and noticed it’s tucked on the corner with way too many people “leaning” that have fallen victim to drug addiction. Found parking, walked inside with a smile on my face and made sure to great everyone in Spanish.

Now this is where things go left. I ordered half chicken with rice & beans, platano maduro, ensalada verde, shrimp mofongo (I don’t eat pork), 1 empanada con queso, 2 chinola juices, tostones, chicarron de pollo sin hueso.

What I received, quarter chicken, rice beans, no maduros, salad, shrimp mofongo with pork in it, 2 empanadas and chicken strips and tostones.

I asked the waitress why there was pork in the mofongo and she told me I didn’t tell her no pork & thats how they do it there. To avoid conflict, I apologized and asked for another SHRIMP mofongo with NO pork. She got pissed and said I would have to pay for both. I also asked when the maduros would arrive and she ignored me.

So I decided to get up and ask for the owner, after explaining to her the situation she was apologetic and asked if it was my first time there.

Then, the waitress comes back pissed off and asked why I would go to her boss. Well that’s probably because you had the audacity to tell me I’d have to pay for a mistake you made both in person and on your menu.

Anyways, this review is honestly less about the restaurant (food I received was decent) but more about the ambiance, location, drugs & waitress with the horrible attitude.

Unfortunately I won’t be recommending this spot & suggest you enter this area with caution should you decide to give it a try.

The best chicken in Paterson. Always ask for extra onions and peppers . Rice and beans are good as well and they always have sancocho ready perfect for when you’re feeling under the weather a must when in paterson

OMG you guys. I had the Pechuga Salsa Alfredo and I’m literally dreaming about it. The chicken was so tender, the pasta was cooked perfectly, and the Alfredo sauce was creamy and cheesy without being gross and heavy. It was a huge portion too—I had to take half home for lunch the next day!

The restaurant is super cute and clean inside. My friend and I sat and talked for like an hour after we finished eating and no one bothered us or tried to rush us out. The service was so sweet and attentive when we needed them. 5 stars all the way for amazing food and a chill atmosphere! Definitely try the Alfredo sauce, you won’t regret it!

Great experience, best Dominican food you can get in New Jersey! They also provide catering options, which is great for parties and events outside of the restaurant !

Stopped in for a solo lunch and got theBistec Encebollado with a side of moro de gandules. Man, this is a plate of food. The steak was tender and savory, and the rice and beans were the ideal combo. Washed it down with an ice-cold Malta. It’s the kind of meal that just sits right and makes you feel good for the rest of the afternoon. No fuss, no fancy stuff. Just incredible food at a great price. The lady at the counter threw in a free empanada because she said I looked hungry. How cool is that? That’s customer service you don’t see anymore. It’s that personal touch that makes you feel like a regular, even on your first visit. Definitely my new spot.

I brought my out-of-town cousins here to show them what real Dominican food tastes like, and Parriillada Costambar delivered an unforgettable experience. We shared a feast: the Costilla Cerdo BBQ was a hit, the Pollo Guisado was divine, and the Moro Negro was cooked with such precision. But the star was the Cangrejo-Fongo. The crab meat was fresh and flavorful, mixed perfectly with the mofongo.

The place was bustling on a Saturday night, which is always a good sign. Despite being busy, the staff was efficient and kind. The owner even came by to check on us. The entire meal felt like it was made with love. My cousins said it was the best meal of their trip. Highly, highly recommend

My family and I were craving some authentic comfort food on a cold day,and Costambar did not disappoint. We ordered the Sopa de Pollo and it was absolutely heavenly. The broth was rich, flavorful, and packed with tender chicken and hearty vegetables—it was exactly what we needed. We also got a side of the Pernil, which was so juicy and perfectly seasoned with a crispy skin that crackled with every bite.
