Reviews
The staff were nice and efficient. We didn’t have to wait long to take our order or be served. It was great.
The free parking lot is big with a lot of stores around.
The servers were friendly and helpful in choosing popular/favorite items (shout out to Eddie and Carrol.) The quality of food they’re serving is worth the AYCE price.
Our new favorite spot. We will definitely be back!
The lady at the register also left a bad impression.
The sushi was large and good, and the prices were slightly cheaper than other places. However, the service was poor, so I’d probably pay a little more and go somewhere else.
Hope they improve.
Our server Luis was AMAZING! Constantly checking up on us making sure we were cared for; everything from drinks, sides, and food. Best service I’ve had in a really long time!
Unfortunately there’s only so much he can do. He has no control over lack of urgency or care from the kitchen. The wait between orders was ridiculous to the point where you loose your appetite. It got to the point where i started timing the orders from the moment order got submitted and time received. It constantly ranged from 20-30min. Keep in mind this was during the week and not at peek hours or full capacity.
The variety of the rolls were limited and simple, portions/size of rolls were small as well. I would recommend to go with sashimi for better fish/rice ratio.
I will say that the quality and freshness of the fish was good. No fishy odor or taste. The price was reasonable but, compared to the value you get it’s questionable. You’ll spend more time waiting than actually eating
This place is a great choice for ayce sushi. All the fish was high quality and very fresh. The owner was super friendly and accommodating. The store itself is very clean. I’ll definitely be back for the AYCE sushi! Check out there new weekly specials! They had 1$ beer when we were there.
Let me start with their strongest contenders and what I’d recommend you order – this sushi spot has very strong carpaccio, especially their salmon. The salmon carpaccio was extremely buttery and fatty. Their salmon nigiri was also extremely fresh, so their supplier is trustable. Their seaweed salad is crispy rather than soggy, and can be put in that same category of freshness. The yellowtail yuzu jalapeño is another great hit as the jalapeño helps balance out the fishiness of the yellowtail. The scallops were also well prepared in their sauce and the masago was salty and fresh.
Kitchen wise, Kairi does a really good job with their tempura battering. With both the Shrimp and Mixed Vegetable tempura, the battering is light and not too filling.
In between were their Shrimp, Ocean Trout, and Squid. For a great squid sashimi or nigiri I highly recommend Ginza Sushi in Torrance, but this restaurant also did a decent job. Their Shrimp, both the regular and Jumbo Ebi were okay but weren’t surprisingly fresh or groundbreaking in any way.
Here’s what I wouldn’t recommend: most of their tuna based sushi’s. Their tuna nigiri and seared tuna were both extremely dry rather than smokey in flavor. The same can be said for the seared salmon, but not to the same extent. The chicken karaage was more fried batter and too oily than chicken itself and it felt as if old oil was used. With the Tonkotsu Ramen the broth was watery and the noodles were overcooked making for a fairly poor ramen – understandable though as this place focuses on sushi rather than ramen.
Service wise this restaurant does an amazing job with quick service, attentive servers who were consistent with asking about the food, refilling water and asking for refills on beer.
I’d say it’s definitely one of the more favorable sushi spots I’ve been to! Great job from their team.
