At our Richmond, VA location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

I havent been to Captain D’s in a very long time. However I had a coupon and I decided to pick up some food. I was disappointed at the size of the fish fillets. They were very tiny. Now I wish that I have taken a picture. I ordered two 3 piece fish dinners and added two drinks. In addition, I couldn’t believe how quick the young lady working the register loses her patience when I was considering my two sides. I understand she may struggle with listening and patience but her attitude was alarming. I almost didn’t order and walked out. I asked to be patient young lady because I didn’t want double green beans for both orders. She started to breathe hard and tap her nails hard on the counter after the first time I said I do not want double. So I decided to just take green beans and broccoli since she didn’t appear to have good social skills. It probably be the last time that I will go back there. The other young lady that brought the food to the counter was nice and respectful.

I’ve had a few issues over time with this restaurant. Today is totally different! I always get the deluxe fish dinner with extra fish, shrimp and crab. For more than 20+ years I’ve never had the stuffed crab with plastic in it. I had a total of 4 crabs and 2 had the plastic substance in it. I called back to the store and the manager told me that it’s normal. I don’t agree because this never happened before and I eat here 5 times a month. This is so heart breaking, I can never eat this again. I’m sorry but Captain D’s has lost a family! I can’t move past this. This stuff doesn’t dissolve, it’s crumbly and clear. For the manager to just say oh it’s nothing really bothered me. 53 dollars wasted!!!!

My food was so dry and burnt the crab cake had to have been there over three days and the grease in the fryers need to be changed. I tried calling the store the manager wants me to get the food out the trash and the receipt and I will do both. I will bring back the bad product had she listen to me I would not done this review.

It seems like each time we visit, the pieces of fish gets smaller, but prices continue to rise. The employee that was taking our order was more concerned about what music was coming from the drive-thru than giving us complete attention.
