Went to Cava yesterday with my husband. We had a 6pm reservation and arrived around 5:45. Most of the tables were empty, except the bar, which seemed packed for their happy hour specials (which looked fantastic by the way). Our server was great. Every tapas we tried was delicious. The drinks we had, a Lemon Drop Martini and an Old Fashioned, were both fantastic as well. It had been over 10 years since our last dinner here and we were very impressed. We will definitely be back soon!

When entering Cava Mezze, you’ll immediately notice this one feels different from the typical Chipotle-style fast casual spots. That’s because this location was the first Cava to ever exist. This is the original, the spot that started it all. It was a must-try for us.
The staff was very friendly as soon as we walked in, and we didn’t feel rushed at all. The menu was short and simple, which I actually liked. I tried the chicken sliders, lamb chops, and a lemonade.
The chicken sliders were crunchy and meaty, full of flavor in every bite. The lamb chops were very beefy and pulled right off the bone. They definitely hit the spot. Honestly, everything was packed with flavor. I kind of wish I had ordered more.
If you’re in the area and want to try the first Cava ever, definitely stop by for a different experience.

My favorite things I had here were the harissa dipping sauce for the bread, and the Scallop Risotto, specifically the mushroom saffron risotto in the dish. As for the other dishes, I think everything tasted good but also nothing blew me away. I would say there are Mediterranean restaurants I like better in Bethesda and DC, but as for Rockville this might be my favorite. Therefore, I probably wouldn’t go too out of my way to come here but I think it’s a very nice option if you live nearby.

This is a fairly nice spot. I’ve been here for lunch and for dinner and it’s definitely worth going to especially if you get the shareable’s. My fiancé and I have been I think three or four times and each time we’ve had a great experience with the wait staff. There have been instances where the host or hostess is fairly rude, but the food and the wait staff make up for it.
If hosts and hostesses were a little more polite, this would be a full five stars. I only hope going forward that they can read these reviews and make the necessary changes.

Place is great! The food was delicious and of great selection too. The flame cheese was a great . Spent the entire evening with great company. The waiter was awsome and as we moved to the bar to get some more time with our company to clear the table for others the bartender got a bit awkward for a min there. Left some bad taste. Otherwise 5 stars all around. Thabks for the great food, music and all around atmosphere.

The food was genuinely delicious and quite reasonably priced in my opinion. My favorite by far were the lamb chops. The place itself is relatively small and fills up pretty fast so make reservations if you want to be guaranteed a seat.

Always a fantastic meal at Cava Mezze. I prefer the openness of the Olney location, but had guest in town and we were near this location, so we dropped on in. Food is always delicious, and the service is outstanding.
Tonight we had the Mezze Tasting, with an extra side of Dolmades. So good! This item, and the flaming cheese (Saganaki) are the two must have starters. You won’t go wrong! For other items we had the brussels sprouts, Chicken Souvlaki (my favorite), Grilled Meatballs, Lamb Pita and Scallops Risotto. The Scallops are my wife’s favorite and the flavor is outstanding. To finish, I always have the Challah French Toast. Refreshing! Overall our guest loved it. She said it had great flavors.
Service was excellent from Isela. Pleasant and friendly and kept an eye on our table. Fantastic!

We’ve been loyal patrons of Cava Mezze since moving to the area from Southern California and have always loved the food, atmosphere, and service. Unfortunately, things have changed as the company expanded its franchise. The original restaurant—the birthplace of Cava—feels different now, from the menu to the overall vibe. We truly hope they can bring back the charm and flavors that made it so special in the first place.

When on business in Rockville, we went to Cava Mezze for dinner. The menu was, in my opinion, missing a few Greek classics that I’d have liked to have seen, such as a Moutabal starter option and a Moussaka as an entree… That said, the food we had was superb. An excellent ‘village’ Greek salad and the Pork Belly and Lamb Chops were delicious and left me too full for dessert. The ambience, whilst nice, in my opinion, was a bit too dark, I had to use my phone torch to even begin to read the menu. A very enjoyable meal though at reasonable prices.
