We came here for dinner on a Wednesday without reservation. We had ceviche and Styx salad with grilled fish which was delicious, and we had creme brulee for dessert. The creme brulee wasn’t my favorite but overall we has a great experience. Nice views and tables outside!

Our lunch at The Styx was truly exceptional — one of those rare dining experiences where everything comes together perfectly: the food, the atmosphere, and the service.
The seafood chowder was absolutely outstanding — rich, creamy, and full of fresh, perfectly cooked seafood. The balance of flavors was remarkable; it’s honestly the best chowder I’ve ever had, and I’ve tasted this dish in many corners of the world.
The fish and chips were equally impressive — golden and crisp on the outside, soft and tender inside, with just the right seasoning. Simple, fresh, and flawlessly executed.
And the service was nothing short of excellent. Our waitress, Sophie, was incredibly friendly, attentive, and helpful. She made us feel genuinely welcome and added a personal touch that made the whole experience even better.
A perfect lunch by the water — delicious food, lovely atmosphere, and warm, professional service. The Styx is a place I’d gladly return to and wholeheartedly recommend to anyone visiting Nelson.

We had such a fantastic dining experience here! It’s definitely a popular spot, so making a reservation is a must, especially around dinner time as it gets very busy. The atmosphere was lively yet comfortable, and the service was attentive throughout the night.

The Styx is such a nice spot down on the waterfront with delicious food and such a nice laid-back atmosphere. I found the staff to be very welcome and helpful with dietary needs. They really take extra care and are quick to make alterations as needed. Well worth a visit for a good meal.

I had an amazing experience at this restaurant. Before coming here, I honestly thought service was more or less the same everywhere in New Zealand, but The Styx completely changed my mind.
The service here is truly outstanding. The staff are incredibly friendly, attentive, and professional, and they pay attention to the smallest details. The way they speak to customers makes you feel genuinely welcomed and cared for.
On top of that, the food was absolutely delicious. Everything came together perfectly. Highly recommended!

Service was exceptional all the staff were extremely nice and hospitable and catered for our needs.
The chef did a wonderful job with our meals and it was super quick too.
The restaurant was as full as it gets but they still did a very organized and efficient job managing the customers and kept everyone smiling and happy.

Arrived in Nelson midweek, staying near the waterfront, so I looked for a seafood restaurant to complete the day. Took a short walk to Styx to find it packed (must be good). Host said they had a share table outside and a family of 4 were finishing up so we accepted that. Had a great view of the harbour and weather was great. Ordered our meal and our table was joined by another couple. Great food with wine and service was spot on.
