Classic diner with great service and good food. Stopped in for breakfast and settled on the Big Biscuit Breakfast with hashbrowns. The coffee was delicious. Service was great and I loved the old school western vibes. They seem to do a lot of door dash orders as people were constantly picking up orders.

First of all, Tiare is the best waitress around. We all left here highly caffeinated and soooo full. Cross your fingers she’s here when you come. My buddy went with the chicken fried steak, but I got the country platter – same thing but all chopped up, covered in sausage gravy, hash browns, 2 eggs AND a side of pumpkin pancakes! And we tried their “scone” that’s like a zeppoli back in Jersey. Rolling out of here very happy.

We hit up The Original Sunrise Cafe for that true old-school breakfast vibe, and it totally delivered. The place has that cozy, homey feel with friendly locals chatting at the counter—exactly what you want from a longstanding Boise favorite.
The host was outstanding: warm, welcoming, and super efficient. She greeted us right away with a big smile, got us seated quickly and made us feel like regulars from the start. Genuine hospitality that sets the tone perfectly.
I ordered the Denver omelet, and it was fantastic—fluffy eggs stuffed with plenty of diced ham, green peppers, and onions, all cooked just right with that golden edge and melty cheese. Came with crispy hash browns (or home fries) and toast on the side. Hearty, flavorful, and spot-on for a classic diner breakfast. Portions were generous without being excessive.
My partner got the cinnamon roll, and it was pure heaven: massive, fresh, gooey with that perfect cinnamon swirl and icing that was warm and drippy. Not too sugary—just indulgent and soft in the middle. Easily one of the best we’ve had, and it paired amazingly with the strong, hot coffee.
Service was attentive and friendly throughout (quick refills, no hovering), and everything felt made with care. If you’re in Boise craving authentic, no-fuss diner food with great portions and that welcoming small-town charm, Sunrise Cafe is the spot. We’ll definitely return—highly recommend this gem!

Best breakfast I’ve had in a long time! I love the old school diner feel, too. The people there were great as well! I think it was called the bug biscuit breakfast. Perfectly made biscuit with sausage and egg on top smothered in gravy. So good.

The restaurant is a little run-down, but don’t let that fool you about the food. The food is really, really good here at a decent price. Their portion size is also good. Love going here for breakfast. The staff have always been super friendly, and the service is usually pretty quick. They probably had our breakfast out to us in less than 10 minutes. Definitely will go back here again.

This was a decent experience, the food was pretty good. Our server needed help, she was the only one there for quite a while. I also noticed the clientele was rather rude and sexist towards her, which lowered the atmosphere for me. I give her props, she put up with toxic behavior rather well. Nevertheless, a place that puts up with behavior that stereotypes idaho is not exactly good, depending on whether you like the stereotypes, I suppose. All that aside, it still remained a decent, standard experience that worked, and that’s what counts.

First time here for breakfast. The staff was friendly. The restaurant had an old diner feel about it, which is good. There are alot of pictures depicting the history of the area. The restaurant has a “Community Mug” where you can keep your personal mug for coffee. It raises funds for the Idaho Special Olympics, which is a great concept. The pancakes were flavorful. Our waitress, Madison was very attentive and friendly.

UPDATE: 18 August 2024

Arrived at 7:10am and a perfect morning to have breakfast outside. I love their classic breakfast and always plenty of bacon and hash browns. My server is attentive and always offers to top off your coffee and asking if you require anything else. I enjoy the atmosphere and friendlier the staff and customers. See you next year.

Going to the Sunrise Cafe will require waiting because of the crowd of people. It’s worth the wait and of breakfast choice. Plates are generous portions, thick sliced sour dough bread and the home fried potatoes are slightly spicy which I liked. Service was quick and plenty of servers and cooks. Definitely would recommend.

We had a great breakfast here. The salted caramel coffee was super sweet and great. My french toast and cinnamon roll were very good. I prefer a more modern interior but that is just my opinion. We sat outside. The waitress was attentive. I will be eating here again.

My hubby and I went to Sunrise Cafe today. What a cute place. It’s like stepping back in history. The food was fantastic and our waiter Manny was so helpful and kind. We will absolutely come back again. They offer a good meal with lots of selections and prices are good. Our breakfast for two was $30.00. The helping are huge so you get what you pay for and the food is delicious.
