When we travel, we always end up seeking out the Irish pubs in whatever city we’re in. It’s just our thing. And no, it’s not only about the beer (though a Guinness fresh off a nitro tap is hard to walk past).
I genuinely love Irish cuisine for its simplicity and comfort. It’s straightforward, flavorful, and satisfying in a way that doesn’t try too hard.
We’re in Ft. Lauderdale waiting for our flight home tomorrow, and we stopped into Waxy’s Irish Pub—and this might be the best one we’ve been to so far.
The open-faced brisket sandwich is incredibly tender, with pepper jack, gravy, jalapeños, and crispy fried pickles that somehow keep their crunch under all that savory sauce. Served with handcut chips, made even better with a good splash of malt vinegar.
The fish and chips? Definitely not frozen. The fish flakes nicely, and the batter is golden and crisp without being greasy.
Portions are huge, so we won’t be doing much else today
And you know it’s the real deal when the local Irish guys are packed in here yelling at the soccer/fútbol match. The atmosphere feels authentic and lively without being chaotic.
Great family-friendly spot, excellent food, and solid service. If you’re ever in Ft. Lauderdale, Waxy’s is worth a stop.

Visiting Fort Lauderdale and this place was close to our hotel. What a pleasant surprise in a super touristy area! We went during brunch and the place was packed with very excited Premier League fans. In spite of the crowd service was prompt and friendly. I had the BLT and my husband had the fish and chips which he said was one of the best he’s ever had. Very fresh fish, not over battered. Highly recommend!

2/17/26- got there early. We wanted to sit outside but it smelt like sulfur so we went inside big inside seating in big bar. We both got an iced tea. One suite and we both got the fish and chips came with a little ramekin a coleslaw, and a little thing of peas. I thought the potatoes were a little mushy because the fish was on top. The fish was not at all greasy, so the whole meal was very good large portions.

Waxy’s Irish Pub has a great vibe, especially with the nice live music and a welcoming patio that’s perfect for hanging out. The servers are friendly and attentive, which makes the experience enjoyable. The food is okay, nothing extraordinary, but it does the job. Overall, it’s a solid spot to relax, enjoy the music, and have a good time.

Probably one of the better places I stopped into during my brief stay in Ft. Lauderdale. I had a good few hours to kill before I was to arrive at the airport, and this place was perfect to post up at with my laptop (booth with an outlet was a total added bonus). Ended up ordering a special burger they have on Wednesdays and it was fantastic. The steak fries that came with the burger were huge and hearty. They also had Paulaner on tap which is in my wheelhouse. Servers were polite and friendly. Only issue I had was toward the end of my stay it ended up getting really busy with most tables occupied but a row of high tops. A trio entitled boomers walked in complaining to my server they wanted a booth. The old guy in group pointed at me saying “well what about this table, hes sitting here by himself”…keep in mind I’ve been there for HOURS and was a paying customer. These whiney babies thought I should move for them simply because they didn’t want to sit at the high tops. My awesome server calmy told them I had paid up but they would have to wait until I was finished. Which I did, I drank my final beer and left. But of course, thats not of the great people of Waxy’s fault for the entitled behavior, I just mention it because my server handled the situation quite well. Overall, I’d highly recommend Waxys to everyone and would definitely drop in next time I’m in town. Additionally, I had the pleasure of being mean mugged by this handsome devil.

My first experiencing Waxy’s last night. I had an Amazingly Delicious meal I received 5-Star service from my server Sarah. I will spread the word to friends and family. You’re top of my list when I return to Ft.Lauderdale. Oh, by the way, think about creating a unique t-shirt design the captures magic of Waxy’s. I would have purchased a few last night.

Mrs Denise at Waxy’s was the best waitress. She went above and beyond to make sure our experience at Waxy’s was the best experience. The food was so wonderful we ended up eating here twice. Next time we are in Fort Lauderdale we will definitely be back to visit!!

We were in the area for the Women’s Euros final and stumbled upon Waxy’s while searching online for somewhere showing the game. To our surprise and delight, every screen in the bar was playing it; making it the perfect place to watch!
We grabbed a spot, ordered some chip shop curry chips and a pizza, and were blown away by how tasty they were, not to mention the generous portions. The drinks were excellent too, with good measures and great value.
A special shoutout to Jackie, who was incredibly welcoming and attentive throughout our visit. She really made us feel at home and added to the great atmosphere.
This place is an absolute gem if you’re looking for somewhere to watch sports with great food, great drinks, and even better hospitality. We’ll definitely be back!
