Been here 3 times and really impressed. 1: Brunch Luther Burger. Instant food coma. Very sweet- donut with syrup. Careful if you’re not into sweet. 2. Gunpowder wings. Had to challenge the “best wings” chatter. Did not dissapoint. Smoked, not fried, makes for better meat. Gunpowder is good if you like some black pepper/garlicy spiciness. If that’s too much, I actually figure naked wings would be super tasty on their own. 3. Fish platter. OMG- so many tastes in one plate. Slightly spicy pimento spread. Savory fish-fry style sunfish to satisfy the fish-and-chips lust. Whitefish spread is not too creamy at all, light but tasty herbs. Smoked trout has that wonderful saltiness that a good smoked fish should have. Comes with a creamy dip- a light tartar that even those of us that might prefer a tzaziki would love. Hard egg for some extra protein. Pita slices are hearty, grainy, but comes with fat cucumber slices if you’re avoiding carbs or gluten. All comes spread on bib lettuce if you decide you want to make a wrap out of it. This place knows food. Plus, so friendly- staff, of course, but the patrons, too. No one decent would feel uncomfortable here. Highly recommend.

I stopped in for a quick lunch with my daughter and we loved the place! I’m not sure how or why we haven’t been here yet, but we’ll be back soon now that we know better!
The atmosphere is nice, with plenty of space, plus a patio. Our server was great and the food we ordered was delicious – especially the chili! We plan to get back on the weekend to order the brisket. On top of it all, the beer was great. Do yourself a favor and make your way to Northbound soon!

This was my first time at Northbond Smokehouse and Brewpub. We began the meal with an appetizer of cheese curds and chicken wings. The chicken wings were extremely smoky. The smoky flavor dominated the taste of the entire wing. Also, I did not particularly enjoy the sweet and spicy wing sauce as it tasted almost like a buffalo sauce. For my meal, l indulged in the 18-hour Porkette sandwich. It was a tender and tasty meat with cheese on top. It was served with a barbecue sauce on that side that was too sweet for my liking. I highly recommend upgrading to the french fries. I tried the Pulled Chicken sandwich, and it was served with lots of coleslaw on top of it. I enjoyed that they had pickles and jalapenos to add to the sandwich as you would like. The Fried Chicken Sandwich was very large and juicy. The chicken was very good, but the sandwich overall did not have much flavor.

We had a great time at Northbound Smokehouse & Brew Pub. My party enjoyed everything we ordered, and my BBQ chicken bowl was phenomenal. The only thing I didn’t care for was the baked beans, which were different from what I expected, but everything else was excellent. The service was amazing and we didn’t leave anything on our plates. I’d definitely come back.

We had a fantastic Saturday lunch here!
First of all, the parking: parallel parking must be done on the surrounding streets. We lucked out to find a parking spot very close, and the restaurant wasn’t even busy when we were there. I can only imagine parking is quite a challenge at busier times of day.
We had a cozy booth. I had a view of the streetside windows and the dining room. Music was at a pleasant low volume in the background–we had no trouble talking and listening to each other.
Our server, Lali, took good care of us. We were never left wanting and empty dishes were cleared promptly. Everything came out at an ideal pace, too.
My husband had a beer from on tap. I was very happy that they had a couple kinds of cider, so I had one from Minneapolis Cider. We ordered poutine as our appetizer. It was fantastic, and a massive serving! My husband had the brisket philly for his entree; brisket is one of those meat cuts that is tricky to get right, as it easily gets too dry, but the cook absolutely perfected it. I had the smoked trout and greens bowl, which was no only delicious, but was also a feast for the eyes. I have never had trout prepared like this before, only salmon, and this dish was quite special.
Just a wonderful place. I can see why it is so highly reviewed.

I have eaten here several times in the past and had good experiences. Today we got take out and I was very disappointed. I ordered the brisket philly and unfortunately need to sub gluten free bread. 1. The menu says creamy cheddar sauce (its beer cheese) so it’s not gluten free. If the menu said beer cheese I would have chose something else. 2. They replaced the hoagie bun with gf bread. Fine but it wasn’t buttered or toasted and one piece was the butt of the bread. All of that is just awful. Please toast the gf bread. It’s the least you can do for a sad gluten free person, I wish i could eat a freaking hoagie bun.
3. The meat and toppings are piled on that hoagie bun. The amount that was on my sad gf bread barely covered the bread. Give me something here!
4. Side salad was good

Great dog friendly patio! The server immediately brought over water for my pup without me having to ask, very thoughtful 🙂 he was also helpful with beer recommendations.
I went with his suggestion on the 18 hour smoked porketta sandwich which was delicious and came with crispy seasoned house potato chips and a tangy bbq sauce.
I know bbq is a labor of love but everything on the menu seemed priced about $1-2 too high, IMO.

My fiance and I went here for dinner last night. He got the porketta sandwich with fries and I got the brisket with Mac and potato salad. The fries seemed like they’d been microwaved, super floppy and just kind of sad. The $30 brisket was VERY disappointing…tough and dry, made us wonder how they ever run out. It’s a cute place and our server was great but we won’t be back.

I had a brisket with the house salad and some shells. The salad was really good, with a fresh and slightly zingy flavor, but unfortunately the weekend brisket was meh.

Cool place in a neighborhood setting in Minneapolis. Enjoyed a flight of their beers and some delicious chili dogs served with chips. People around me had BBQ and wings and everything looked delicious. Great fast service. Has a big outdoor seating area.
