I really like this location and tend to dine in within the bar area. Prices are very reasonable, food tastes good and what you would expect from a Pub & Grill. My go-to is the California Burger with a side of fries (photo attached).
There are two parts to this pub. One side of the building is more a family setting with a proper restaurant dining area. On the opposite side is the pub/bar. Seating around the bar is ample and there are also dining tables for those who want to have an adult beverage with their meal in a more casual setting. They typically have fresh popped popcorn that diners can help themselves to while they wait for their meal or while having a beer.
Overall – it’s a good place to stop in, have a drink, and enjoy a no-frills lunch or dinner. My only disappointment, thus reducing the overall to 4-stars, was they recently stopped doing a Tuesday night dinner special on burgers as it became a ritual among myself and a few friends each week to stop in, have a beer, nibble on some popcorn, and eat a burger combo. I’ll still go back though. I’ve never had a bad experience and staff is pleasant.

Staff was very friendly and checked in on us throughout our visit. Food was amazing. I had the boom boom shrimp wrap…great texture, ingredients and taste. Will return soon!

Had supper here on 6.27.2025 and was served by Alyssa at the bar top. Fantastic Food and Great drinks. The Chicken Cobb Salad and Cheese Curds were excellent. Definitely will eat here when I come through La Crosse, Wisconsin again.

I stopped at Ardies with a friend for lunch recently. They have consistently good food and great service. I was there for lunch and our server was Helen P. She was so kind and helpful. I got a special and was bummed that I wouldn’t be getting fries and she said, that comes with fries, do you want them? YES PLEASE! Then I asked about ingredients in a particular sandwich and she was able to answer my question brilliantly and I changed my order. She kept checking on us and the lunch was delicious. When we finished she dropped the check and just before stepping away she clarified – one check or seperate? We did want separate so she corrected that in a matter of seconds. Helen, you were just excellent and I hope the additional tip showed that. Keep up the fantastic hospitality!

Dined on Friday evening, post holiday. The waitress had been there ALL day, and she did a fine job.
Fish: Middle of the road flavor, & the batter was a bit under done so I let mine slide off.
Chicken: It wasn’t very appealing by its looks, but it tasted good. It wasn’t how I remember it, & the piece was quite small (the half had a breast with a wee tiny wing attached).
I added creamer to my cole slaw to improve the vinegary flavor.
The baked potato was honestly the best part.

We regularly come here for a late Sunday breakfast eating at the bar. Almost always, Kim is behind the bar. She is nice, attentive, and hard working.
We used to rotate around a few other breakfast places on the weekend. We noticed inconsistency with the other places from week to week with food and service quality. We like that the Flipside food and service are consistently very good each time. So we’ve become regulars for weekend late breakfast.
Sometimes we do change it up and order the hot beef and gravy open sandwiches—awesome comfort food.
The owners are friendly people and we almost always see them when we visit. I think that makes an important difference. I feel good supporting a nice local place like this.

Neat atmosphere. Service was a little slow at times, water glass got empty but overall she was friendly and it was the end of the night so I’m sure she was trying to get other stuff done. I’d never tried breasted chicken before. Not a huge fan. Menu was deceptive. Offers 1/4 or 1/2 a chicken. One would assume this meant a breast, wing, thigh and leg for a half. Especially when it says you have to pay $1 more for all white meat. I got two breast/wings and asked the waitress but she said they only offer white meat which is a bummer since the thigh is my favorite. Seems crappy to that they charged the $1 extra when I didn’t even have the option for dark meat. I’d go back to try some of the other stuff on the menu.

Service was great and fast. The food was not good at all. “Legendary” stir fry was terrible and the drinks were not great either. Chicken was dry and the salad was not freshly made. Definitely came from a premade bag mix and the rice pilaf was Rice a Roni. And why would you serve rice pilaf with stir fry anyway? Don’t even get me started on the stir fry “sauce”. Nasty. Cheese curds were horrible. Maybe something wrong with the batter? They were gross, soggy and laying in a pile of grease. Wish I would have taken pictures. Not going back

This is one of our favorite places to get together when we all get back to LaCrosse. Consistently good food & service. Our server this day was hilarious, practically became a member of the family by the time we left! It wasn’t real busy and she let us hang around for about 3 & 1/2 hours. ❤️
