This place was great. If you’re looking for a hole in the wall cafe with great food, this is it. It doesn’t look like much from the outside, but as most country folks know, places like this often have the best food and Big Bob’s didn’t disappoint. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The burger was big and juicy with like a pound of meat. We only ate half and had the rest for dinner. Next time we’ll try the pork chops since those seemed to be what a lot of people were ordering if they didn’t get a burger. Not sure how we’ve lived in the Orange/Durham County area for 25 years and didn’t know about this place, but now that we do, we’ll make it a regular stop.

Picked up a couple fish platters for dinner and was more than satisfied with the amount of food on each plate.
Even though there are many reviews praising this location about how much they enjoy the results of the meals offered here. They still exceeded my expectations.
The fish was plentiful and well prepared. The vegetables were just as you expect good soul food to taste.
I’ll be returning to Big Bob’s City Grill often get more of their excellent food.

I heard about this restaurant from social media. People said great things about the food so i checked it out and boy was i disappointed. Spent 46.00 on a fish plate and wing plate. The fish plate was not good at all. My kids wouldn’t even eat it. Money wasted. The wing plate was ok. No different from any other place. The prices are high for the meals but you get a lot of food with it, so it would be worth it if the food tasted good. The Mac and cheese taste like nothing.. collards were ok…

The pork chops were thick cut, juicy, and seasoned perfectly. You get two with a plate! The livers were what you would expect. Their mac and cheese was really good with lots of stringy cheese. The hush puppies are different from what you get at most places. They are round and have a cake like texture. The baked beans were like the ones found in the leading brand of pork and beans just a little sweeter. Their portion of collard greens is slightly bigger than most restaurants, but thankfully not salty or vinegary. The pecan pie was fantastic! The staff is friendly and welcoming. There are not many tables inside so take out is recommended if you live closeby. I definitely plan to return.

$10.28 for one ☝ piece of pork chop, then the lady tells me after I order and pay (opening the box) “a little smaller than usual today but this is all we have” (signs everywhere warning no refunds and if it’s an issue blah blah blah…). Shameful for a business especially black owned to think customer service of such is ok..Never again it’s not worth it. robbing Hillsborough with your overpriced food and small portions sizes. I did not except two big pieces but this is ridiculous and not try to my purchase worth $10.28. Ridiculous!!! Pictures don’t lie before it’s said I didn’t show the whole plate

The place is definitely a hole in the wall and could use a good sprucing up, but their sanitation grade was a 96.5. I’ve seen fancy places with a lower score.
What I liked about the burger is that although it was big and well done, it was very tender and juicy. You could tell they didn’t overwork the ground beef and the cashier said they get it from Angus Barn!
Toppings were fresh and delicious and seasoned fries were greasy in the best of ways.
You can eat in, but there’s not much ambiance and it’s a bit noisy.
For sure will be going back to try more than a burger!

This is a tiny little diner on Hwy 70 in Hillsborough, with very limited seating. They were busy as can be at lunch which tells me the food is good. I ordered a cheeseburger and was warned that it was really big. That woman did NOT tell a lie. I couldn’t hardly eat it all. The patty was huge and I would swear it was an inch thick. They offer good country cooking or what some would even call soul food. The customer I spoke with was from Wake County and they eat at Big Bob’s when they come this way.

Such a great find! The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming — exactly what you want from a local pub. The staff were friendly and on top of things, the food came out hot and fast, and the drinks were perfectly poured. You can tell they actually care about the place and their customers.

There are a couple of pictures here of this cheeseburger. If the camera adds 10 pounds, it would still be understating what I encountered here. This pretty burger has to be over a pound. Comes with a knife. The reason for the knife should be obvious unless that burger has caught you in its gaze as this one did me. I ate it. I ate it all. My children with me were concerned for me. This burger is where tall tales come from and everyone in that place but me knew it. I’ll be back and I’ll use the knife next time to take half of this beautiful baby home. Service was great. There are many different things on the menu that I want to try after I recover. Nice folks.
