We had an *alright* first experience at Sushi Station in Downtown Webster Groves. Nothing was great, nothing was terrible. The atmosphere was visually beautiful but the blasting Christian music was rather… unexpected… for a restaurant of this type! The service was pretty disappointing, we had to leave cash on the table because our waitress never came back.

The food was pretty good. My Mom enjoyed her Teriyaki Chicken but did bite into a couple tough pieces. Her rice was also very fluffy and she enjoyed the salad that was included. I got the Orange Chicken Appetizer which was nice and crispy, and a singular Spicy Tuna Nigiri was just okay. Again, the rice was great but the tuna tasted a bit too icy (frozen?) for my liking.

We probably wouldn’t come back anytime soon, but it wasn’t the worst meal we’ve ever had. The location is very convenient and the prices weren’t that bad.

Really, really fresh fish! Lots of foo-foo rolls that would like to hide the quality and flavor of the fish but that’s not the stuff I order when we go out for sushi. I’m all about the chirashi…and hand rolls. Sometimes nigiri but always chirashi.

On this visit- the first of many to come – I ordered…CHIRASHI. Surprised? Me either.

The slices of fish they provided were larger than usually seen and exceptionally fresh. They include 10 pieces but mine only included 3 varieties of fish: tuna, salmon and yellowtail. All included were excellent but the lack of variety seemed like a miss.

The rice was also something of a miss. It was serviceable but they really blew the opportunity to make it something special. They could have added or mixed in any number of other items to kick up the rice. Slivers of gourd would be the first thought. They also could have added a bit more in the way of non-fish items to make the bowl more interesting. I’ve seen small amounts of seaweed salad, octopus salad and other vegetables included elsewhere.

Sushi Station is hands down the best sushi spot around! The sushi is incredibly fresh, beautifully prepared, and packed with flavor—every bite was outstanding. What really sets this place apart, though, is the staff. They were welcoming, attentive, and genuinely kind, making the whole experience even better. You can tell they truly care about their customers. If you’re a sushi lover, Sushi Station is a must-visit. Highly recommend!

Nice dining room, nice patio. Food is really good with a lot of variety, my only complaint is that the non-sushi menu items are absurdly priced. $4 per nigiri is valid, $9 a roll is great, but $20-$25 for katsu is extreme. My guess is that they want to price you into buying sushi? but when I want sushi and my little sister wants chicken it just feels bad

Cute, cozy atmosphere. The food was delicious, I had their pork katsu and I loved it. Service was helpful and friendly. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

For reference, my best friend and I have been dining here fairly consistently for over 2 years, ie: going in at least once a month. Tonight we went in and ordered 2 sushi rolls & 3 orders of gyoza (bill was $72). Our food came out within 15 minutes or so but it was very disappointing. The sushi was warm when it came out & the gyoza was rubbery. It did not taste like the same quality of food we were both used to. We began to eat and both got less than halfway through our meal before giving up. The server attending us did not check in during the meal, and only asked at the end if we wanted a to-go box for food we hadn’t touched. She spent most of her time watching the olympics on tv and on her phone, in plain sight of our table. We have both previously spent our money here as dine in guests, carry out customers and gift card purchasers. Very disappointed.

This place used to be great, but the quality has really declined. I ordered the rainbow roll, which was already overpriced, and it wasn’t good at all. I ate one piece and couldn’t finish it, but they still wouldn’t remove it from the bill. The cucumbers were rotten, and there was no apology or effort to make it right. They even asked if we wanted a to-go box, which made no sense if the sushi already tasted old in the restaurant. To top it off, it’s March and they still have Christmas decorations up. Not a good experience.

I thought this place would be a decent place due to reviews and social media recommendations. I brought friends from out-of-town to try out Sushi Station around the new year. First thing I noticed was the sky high prices. I asked for the portion size of sashimi and nigiri a la carte pieces and the waitress admitted of the skimpy portion sizes despite the price. Our food took a good deal of time to arrive despite the nearly empty restaurant at the time. A friend commented that their kobe roll meat was underseasoned and compared the beef quality to “taco bell.” I paid around $50 for a sushi roll and a katsudon that made up my full portion. It tasted decent, but not $50 good. My friends left still hungry. I am embarrassed for inviting my friends here and I regret not walking out as soon as I saw the menu prices. That is why I decided to write this review two months later.

Sushi Station is elite, period. The sushi is always fresh, high-quality, and miles better than the mediocre spots people love to defend. Every roll is done right, no shortcuts, no nonsense. Remember, McDonald’s is always an option when you can’t afford quality food.

The staff is phenomenal — fast, friendly, and actually cares, which is more than can be said for most places. Service here is consistently on point.

If you don’t like Sushi Station, that’s not a restaurant problem — that’s a taste problem. This place delivers quality and doesn’t apologize for it. One of the best sushi spots around, no debate.
