Phenomenal food and an awesome vibe! The nachos with “expensive cheese” with spicy pork, the birria ramen, and the fried plantains were incredibly good. The beer selection was nice here too.

We discovered this place by accident but were blown away by how good it was! We’ll definitely be back.

My friends and I had the best experience here before seeing a show. It’s truly right off Broad St, so easily walkable from public transportation. We went on a Monday and got a table, but it did fill up quickly! The atmosphere in here is great – a little dim in terms of lighting, but not so dark you can’t see menus etc. My food and drink highlights were the blackberry margarita, short rib tacos, and churros. All were absolutely delicious! But, the best part of our time here was the service. Our server Melanie H was kind, responsive, and helpful! She made sure we were happy the whole time which was great. We’ll definitely return here in the future!

Very good food! Took a while to get it though and desert took way too long. Cool vibe here

Ten stars if I could give them. ⭐️
José Pistola’s was an absolute standout and everything you hope to stumble upon in Philadelphia—bold flavors, genuine hospitality, and zero pretension.
The food was exceptional across the board, but the guacamole deserves special recognition: impossibly fresh, vibrant, and seasoned to perfection. Taco Tuesday was a triumph—$3 tacos that were anything but an afterthought. Each one was expertly balanced, deeply flavorful, and executed with care.
The service elevated the entire experience. Our server was warm, attentive, and effortlessly cool, embodying that unmistakable Philly confidence: friendly, no-nonsense, and deeply proud of what’s being served. The chef personally brought our food to the table, which felt both generous and authentic, and speaks volumes about the pride behind the kitchen.
José Pistola’s delivered the perfect “welcome to Philadelphia” vibe—top-notch food, impeccable service, and a whole lot of heart. An unforgettable meal and a must-visit.

Tasty Mexican food with a good spicy kick and Asian fusion elements. Cosy if slightly loud on a Saturday night but the happy hour crowd clears out by 7:30 and elegant tea candles come out. Attentive and fast service! The ramen was fine, spicy pork tacos and tortilla soup (spicier than the tacos actually) were delicious. However note the bathroom is on the 3rd floor which is not very accessible.

It’s been a while but I look upon Jose Pistola’s (aka Joe Gunn) as an old friend. And I can always count on Jose’s to have a special Belgian I haven’t tried yet. Sante!

Good bar! Ordered a few margarita pitchers with friends and they were strong! Got the guacamole as an appetizer but had to remind the server a few times that we were still missing it before it came out, after the entrees. Got the wings and they were full of flavor but could have used a little bit more sauce.

We loved the excellent variety of mexican dishes. We would order all of it again. We were with a 10 and 8 year old and they loved it too.
We ordered the Phillycheesesteak taco (3) and it was amazing.
the Freedom Taco – (3) classic was great as was the Rice Bowl with Chicken Tinga. Fish tacos were great too.
The guacomole was great but pretty spicy- a couple at our table couldnt handle it.
The Spicy Magaritas were amazing.

The place is dark and cozy but the music leaves a lot to be desired. The playlist was 90’s lamenting white male whining rock. Not the best dinner music at all.
There are multiple sports playing on a few TVs which was typical but the music ( and I like 90s rock ) was a drag.

We stopped by on a weekday afternoon during happy hour (i.e., before 6 pm). The staff were friendly and efficient. The food was delicious. We enjoyed the laid-back atmosphere and loved the 80’s music playing in the background. It was a hot day, and their air conditioners were a life saver.
