What an absolutely incredible culinary experience! Let me first start off by saying the ambiance is a whole vibe! This establishment is beautiful, well kept, clean, clear and organized. The staff is very helpful and nice. Our waitress was very helpful and made some great recommendations. The food itself was out of this world! We started with the calamari and it was incredible – the sauce they add on top is amazing! My wife got the Bang Bang tacos which were exquisite. I got the Shrimp Florentine pasta and it was one of the best pastas I’ve had in a very long time. The drinks were very creative and poured & mixed to perfection! This was an absolutely amazing experience for my wife and I. We highly recommend that everyone try this establishment out. We cannot wait to come back for our next experience ❤️

I recently visited Lumen Restaurant with a few of my sisters in Christ for brunch, and it was an enjoyable experience overall. The Christmas-themed decor added a delightful touch to the ambiance. The wait staff were attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed throughout our meal.
Two of my sisters ordered the Shrimp & Grits, which were well plated but slightly bland in seasoning. I had the Chicken & Waffles, which was tasty; however, the chicken was crunchier and darker than I would have preferred. Despite these minor quirks, I’m definitely willing to give Lumen another try in the future

Great experience. Was seated promptly and food and drink came out without delay. Order the steak frites and calamari appetizer. Calamari could have used a better sauce but was fresh. Steak and fries was perfectly cooked.

Get the salmon, its amazing. Atmosphere is beautiful, especially around the holidays. Rose remembered us from our last visit, and took great care of us. Skylar was our waitress and she didnt miss a beat. They made our experience wonderful and thats why we will be back with our friends visiting from NYC in two weeks. We want to show them that Detroit is just as festive.

Absolutely fantastic! I highly suggest reserving the “igloos” outside as it offers a very private dining experience and you will easily meet the minimum spend. French Onion soup and Brussel sprouts were phenomenal. I would definitely be back if I were a local.

The restaurant is a little smaller with a more intimate feel. We sat at a small high top table next to the bar and we couldn’t have asked for better service. Throughout the night, at least 6 different servers took care of us (sitting next to the bar, we were taken care of by the bartenders.) The food and drinks were amazing and the service was top notch. My boyfriend had the peach cocktail and then an old fashion with honey cinnamon syrup and I had the mule which all of the drinks were absolutely delicious. We both had the Steak frites which was cooked to perfection and the fries I just couldn’t get enough of. For dessert, we took home the banana pie dessert and the Dubai chocolate cheesecake special and let me just say, oh my goodness. Neither of us knew which one we liked better. We will definitely be back! Thank you for an amazing valentines dinner 🙂

My fiance and I decided on a last minute date night here and was able to obtain a reservation for their enclosed outdoor “igloo” seatings. Never done one before but it was prettt cool and their heater kicked on every 15 or so minutes but wasnt loud at all. Our waitress was very sweet as well. For our drink order I went with their Detroit Sour, it was good but for someone like myself who isn’t much of a drinker it was a sipper for me but still made very well. For our Appetizer we went with their Calamari. Perfectly cooked, soft and not rubbery as some always overcook it. Was full of flavor and breaded very lightly. Definitely recommend. As for our entrées, I was going between their lamb or their braised short rib. Our waitress helped me out and she made an excellent choice with the Wagyu short rib. Tender and juicy this meat fell apart with my fork. The red wine sauce made this dish as it was packed full of flavor! My Fiance went with their Steak Frites and we’ve never had a steak frites where the steak wasn’t already cut/ sliced in medallions before but other than that it was cooked to a perfect medium rare as requested and very tender. It came with a type of darker butter sauce to go on the steak and it was very delicious. As we didn’t not get a dessert this night, I highly recommend coming out and dinning with them. Not once have we’ve recieved a dish that was subpar nor a drink either.

This was my second visit to Lumen for food, and the experience was just as solid as the first. Our party each enjoyed drinks and an entree. The atmosphere was comfortable and inviting—perfect for a meal or drinks with family and friends. The staff was friendly, attentive, and welcoming without being overbearing, which always makes a difference.
Food and drinks were enjoyable across the board and came out well-timed. Lumen continues to be a reliable spot downtown and I’m looking forward to a return visit in the warmer months when the rooftop re-opens.

My wife and I visited Lumen for a quick brunch before the Detroit Lions game.
The food was absolutely amazing. we had zero complaints! We ordered the French toast, shrimp & grits, and huevos rancheros, and ate every single bite. We also each had a drink (a beer and a cocktail), which was the perfect way to start the day.
We were greeted right away by our server, Skylar, who did an excellent job explaining the menu, sharing her favorite items, and making us feel welcome. She was friendly, attentive, and very timely with all our requests.
My only small critique is that the floor was still wet from mopping (I assume), and there weren’t any “wet floor” signs visible.
Overall, an amazing experience from start to finish and we’ll definitely be back!

For what it costs, the main plates that were served for our meal felt underwhelming. They were plated and dressed nicely, but did not deliver on any sort of distinct flavor. That being said, the crab cakes tasted very good. They had a nice texture that wasn’t too dry and struck a good balance between savory and spicy. Our favorite item, however, was the dessert (not pictured). I cannot overstate how much we enjoyed the cheesecake. It lacked the fresh berries that the menu suggested it would have, but was delicious nonetheless.
I also have nothing but good things to say about their service and space. The server and GM both did their best when they knew I was dissatisfied, and I saw that there were regulars who seemed to look forward to seeing the staff.
Were I to go back, it would be for drinks and desserts after enjoying a meal elsewhere.
