Hans and Franz is unique in many factors. Its the oldest building in the Upstate, our biergarten is not your average Biergarten. Its build to give a piece of atmosphere to relax, Including Palm trees, banana trees and a very affordable food prices. We like to see people coming back more often, besides our regular menu we run weekly specials with food around the world. It is owner run and many specials are made by him.
Watering hole in a former mill with traditional decor, German eats, brews & an outdoor beer garden.

First time visiting. This place has excellent old world feel, excellent food and friendly staff that makes dining worthwhile. Some modern takes on traditional German fare, and even some not so German fare. I cannot, in good conscience, give the place a less than stellar review. We arrived at a peak time, yet, we were seated quickly, had our drink and food order taken quickly, and recieved excellent service. If you are expecting the wait staff to be like american staff, you will be disappointed. They will not interrupt you three times during your meal right after you have put food in your mouth. They work much like European staff and leave you to eat unless you need them. Also, try the mustard with the frites (fries).

The food was delicious. I mean, flavorwise everything was immaculate. The only issue I had was portion to price ratio. The portions are small. I purchased something called the Insane Pork Sandwich and it wasn’t what I imagined as insane. BUT I ate every bit of it because it was honestly that good.

The food? Next level. The blackened salmon over grits? Perfectly flaky, no fishy taste, with a seasoning kick that’ll blow your mind. Easily the best salmon I’ve ever had.

If you happen to be dining outside, which I would suggest for any authentic. Biergarten atmosphere, then you must ask for Alexandra. She is absolutely the best. Of course all the servers are excellent, and Alexandra for me out shines them all. Take a tip from a guy who’s lived in Germany and knows how it goes: Alexandra. Bottom line.

The Koenisberger Klopse is a must. Seriously. Best thing I’ve had in ages. I’m still thinking about it. I’m trying to get people to go with me just so I can order this again. It’s rich, creamy, savory, with just the perfect hint of sweetness from the pork. You want to try something u pique and authentic? It’s THIS.
The inside of the restaurant is so cool. Loads of weird knickknack stuff on the walls that really makes you feel like you’re in a German place. It’s not just themed, it’s genuine. Such a cool place and not one you’ll forget soon!

We’ve lived in Gvl for years and we finally got around to eating here. The interior is very eclectic and keeps your eyes busy. Lol. I didn’t see any dust or cobwebs like some reviews mentioned.
We ordered several things (see pics). The stroganoff was a big hit. Burger was fair, and we agreed we wouldn’t order that again. The meatballs starter was very tasty. My son liked his wings but not the ranch. The pretzel got devoured. My husband loved the fried sauerkraut balls. The apple strudel was a bit too sweet and soggy, so we wouldn’t get that again.
Our poor server was running ragged between indoors and out. We had some waiting for refills and such, but I think it was his load, not him per se. He was super nice and when he was able to get to us, he was fast with the refills.
Overall, we’d come again to try some of the other offerings.

We came here on a busy Friday night, and loved every minute! From the atmosphere, friendly servers and delicious food; this is a really unique and fun spot to eat.
We tried the schnitzel with potato salad and fresh cut fries. The cheese bomb burger looked awesome, I would definitely try that nice time!
All of the German beers are authentic, and they are happy to give samples which was great. Such a fun Biergarten, even in the middle of winter! Would definitely go back.
The people working there were also very friendly, accommodating and hard working.

Absolutely delicious! The giant pretzel really is giant and tasty. Great sauerkraut balls served with tasty German potato salad. Had jagerschnitzel with spetzel and red cabbage. We also tried their wings- delish!! Everything was tasty and great atmosphere.
