Do not go!! The chefs are new at this place and they just dont know how to cook indian food!! We ordered the samosas which had the stuffing of aloo (same as the dosa stuffing) and matar with simply no taste!! The chutneys served along with samosas clearly looked like they were more food color than actual ingredients!! We ordered gobi paratha and they served almost papad (hard) like paratha with no butter/oiling (how is that even a paratha if made in tandoor) and the dish description said stuffing of cauliflower with spices (there was minimal cauliflower and no spices at all in it)!! And we ordered chana puri hoping for some lip smacking authentic kala chana and thin and crispy puris instead we were served chhole (which tasted sweet) and the puris were the size of bhaturas (only difference between bhatura and puri was it was made with whole wheat dough). Also we ordered sweet lassi which looked and tasted like buttermilk (somebody needs to explain them the difference there) and it wasn’t even sweet!! The only good tasting item was the store bought mixed pickle And to top it all they were so slow..took almost an hour to get us the gobi paratha and chana puri when there were guests on just 2 other tables (not even a full house)!!

I had an incredible experience at Taj Mahal in Pacific Palisades. The restaurant served authentic North Indian cuisine that truly transported me to India. The flavors were rich and traditional, and the staff, particularly Sunny and Neetu, were amazing. They adeptly adjusted the spice levels based on my preference and even prepared dishes with my favorite vegetables. If you’re seeking a genuine taste of India, Taj Mahal is a must-visit. I can’t get enough of their delicious food!

We got here on Sunday night at 9:40, we had butter chicken – it was tasty, with great hospitality!

Thanks for serving us!

I ordered from Taj Palace on Monday night the day before the Palisades fire and was blown away at how fantastic the service and food was. My Girlfriend and I consider ourselves (self proclaimed) professional Indian food critics and I can confidently say this topped the list of places we have gone. Not only was the food fantastic but the staff working there went above and beyond to make our experience incredible. My heart hurts for the Palisades and especially this wonderful establishment that has made a lasting impression on me. Thank you so much for providing wonderful food and a warm inviting environment for so many years. I hope the best in the recovery and rebuild to the wonderful ownership and staff.

Thanks,
Ari Horwitz

Terrible Experience – Unprofessional Staff and Overpriced Food

I had one of the worst dining experiences at this restaurant. The manager’s behavior was absolutely unacceptable—rude and unprofessional throughout the entire visit. To make matters worse, we were served leftover food that was stale and clearly not fresh.

We ended up paying $103 for a meal that was not worth even a fraction of that amount. I feel completely cheated. This level of service and food quality is unacceptable, especially for the price they charge.

If you value good food, respectful service, and your hard-earned money, stay far away from this place.

The tikka chicken was a great dish and the BEST part were the chutneys they gave you! I loved the tamarind one. The service was quite slow though. The naan was great

I’ve tried time and time again (6 months between orders) to give this place a chance. Thinking maybe it’s an off night. It’s always an off night. Low quality Indian food for a steep price. They’re the only Indian restaurant for miles so there’s no other Indian food to order from. Their shrimp is always overcooked and 100 % tasteless….doesn’t even taste like shrimp. The naan is always overcooked and crunchy. Our saffron rice was soaking wet and lumpy. Consistently a letdown. It’s too bad. I guess if you don’t know what Indian food should taste like… you won’t know the difference.

Greatest cuisine and the best customer service I have received in a long time. This restaurant has been around for 31 years!! That in itself says all you need to know. Meeting friends for a meal is about the entire experience from beginning to end. This is a must if you love Indian food !

Don’t fall for this place — major rip off. Their “combo” deals are quarter-servings, not equivalent to their regular meals, and nothing comes with rice. You have to order it separately, which is unheard of for an Indian restaurant. For the price it’d be better to drive into Santa Monica if you don’t mind the hassle. If enough ppl complain they might make a more reasonable menu. Maybe.
