At first, this place was decent. Not amazing, but good enough that we kept coming back. Now? It’s a gamble every single time, and lately it’s been a straight-up disappointment.
Freshness and overall quality are the biggest issues. The blue crab has had that pungent sour, ammonia-like smell, mushy meat, and dull unpleasant flavor more than once, which completely kills my appetite. And that’s not just one crab — but my entire order of crabs. The Alaskan crab legs have been mushy, overcooked, and basically flavorless. The clams are more empty shells than actual meat, and the sauce barely sticks to anything — like the seafood was cooked somewhere else, reheated as an afterthought, then tossed in sauce right before serving.
We’ve tried multiple boil combos (Alaskan crab, blue crab, crawfish, clams, shrimp, mussels, sausage) plus a variety of menu items, fried and steamed oysters, Mac and cheese, clam chowder, and fish and chips. The crabs are consistently the worst thing on the table. If you actually want to enjoy your meal, don’t order them.
I really wanted to love this place and gave it way more chances than I should have. But lately, the food quality and consistency just aren’t there. I honestly don’t see us coming back.

We were passing through the city and someone had recommended this establishment if we were ever in the area. We are so glad we did! The hostess was very nice. We placed our order to go. If you are not a regular, you can call your order in and they will store it until you arrive to pay for it before they prepare it. She did reassure me it would only take 5 to 7 minutes once we arrive. We order 1 pound of snow crabs each and I added a lobster tail. 1 order was lemon pepper with medium spice and the order was garlic butter seasoning with medium spice. Both delicious!!! The only thing I’d recommend is have you lobster on the side. With the lobster being in the bag with the crab it took away from taste of the lobster. The food was DELICIOUS!!! We will be back. There is a fee if you order lemon and butter to go, but not if you dine in. That was my only dislike. I hope you enjoy. Bon Appétit.

i came into this place with my mom during an 18 hour drive back home and was the nearest source of seafood that wasn’t expensive. i ordered some fried shrimp with cajun fries and liked how well seasoned they turned out. i’m not picky at all and enjoyed the food more than i expected to. i’d go here before a long roadtrip

I was visiting my cousin in gainsville and was craving a seafood boil so decided to try this spot for lunch and I got the one with crab legs, shrimp, sausage and potato with everything seasoning and everything was good! Walk in, smelled amazing. Felt like I was in the Florida Keys. Their signature sauce is amazing, and don’t be afraid to go after a higher spice level. They even have a wider selection past a regular seafood boil, totally recommend their mac n cheese and clam chowder. I was really surprised with how quickly everyone got their food. Love this place.

My husband loves this place, since he is a seafood-lover! We’ve been here several times since they first opened; with friends, family, or with our own household. The only reason why I’m giving them a 4 out of 5 stars is because I wish they had a broader menu for people who don’t eat seafood (me), even though I love their tenders with honey mustard dipping sauce. Only reason my family and I come here is because of my husband. Regardless, we’ve never had a bad experience. Food always comes out quick and hot. Service/waiters are fast when taking our orders, and super kind, and the atmosphere overall is friendly and clean. I honestly can’t find anything negative to say about this establishment and will continue to dine here in the near future.

I’m soooo disappointed. I have been going to Mr & Mrs crab locations since the first one opened in Tampa,Florida. This has got to be the worst visit I’ve ever had. Hear me out, the options for seafood boil bags are hugely different and there are no replacement options for those who don’t eat pork sausage or mussels. The atmosphere and music sucks. I guess you can’t expect the same results in different locations. I been holding off for weeks as this is the only thing I wanted for my birthday. Yall I teared up in front on this waitress and it ain’t her fault. I won’t be returning that is all. Nobody’s fault but my own for trying a place closer to where I relocated. I will take the hour and a half drive to Tampa next time just for my own satisfaction.
