If there was ever a perfect deli in the perfect spot it would be Goody’s. I don’t know how long this place has been on business, but I used to eat here 20 years ago. I was hoping my memories of this place weren’t simply the nostalgia of my younger years, but as it turns out this place is still great.

The atmosphere is pretty much built like a mullet, business in the front and party in the back. Facing the college is a typical deli, with a fountain machine, pretty simple tables, and a moderate view of cars and students passing by.

Right behind the deli is a full blown sports bar that as a college student I never frequented. Mostly that’s my fault for having to rely on cheap drinks at particular bars, but it shouldn’t keep you away. The place always seems lively, so I’m sure it’s a good time.

The service is what you would expect at a deli. You order everything at the counter, they make it fresh in front of you, or you come back to grab your food if it’s busy extremely busy (sometimes it is).

My personal opinion about most delis is that their secret is in the bread, and this place is no exception. The breads are soft, fresh, and are typically paired with the appropriate sandwiches. You can get any bread you want, but certain sandwiches they serve really do have a preferred flavor palette that only the proper bread selection can complete.

The subs are great, and I had on my first visit, but don’t sleep on the pizzas, or the pizza bombs. When I lived in Pocatello all I ever ordered were pizza bombs, but my taste buds have clearly matured as I aged (not really, just add tacos).

Honestly, I don’t have a negative thought in my mind about this place. They even have Sun Chips, which is one of my favorite things to stuff in my submarine sandwichea. Try it! Not just the chips in the sub, but Goody’s on general.

Ate here with my family on a Friday about1
1 pm. Some had sandwiches others had pizza and hot sandwiches. There was a small line for sandwiches but it went quick. Ironically there was no line for hot food, yet it took 35 minutes from when we ordered to when we got the food. The pizza was really tasty though the kids didn’t like the hard to eat crust. The sandwiches were prepared in front of you. They have a typically array of sodas on tap.

Food is good.
100% got nasty food poisoning from here. 24 hours of death. Just while standing in line we watched one sandwich girl hike up her pants with her gloves on then go right back to making the sandwich. Other sandwich girl wiped her gloves on her shirt and went right back to making a sandwich. The sandwich kept brushing up against her nasty jacket. She also took cash with the same gloves on and went back to making a sandwich. The guy behind them at the pizza cutting counter pushed his glasses up, rubbed his eyes with his gloved hands, and went right back to the pizza. Then walked around and reached under the counter to grab deli meat to slice with the same gloves as well. While we were there all the employees were going out the side door with personal fountain drinks in and out in and out. Nobody ever washed their hands. Does nobody else notice this stuff? This all happened in the course of about five minutes. I was eating the sandwich thinking I was going to regret it. And regret it I did. I can’t remember being so sick but thankfully the worst was over after 24 hours.

It’s a shame because the food really was good. But I can’t make myself go back. I hope you guys train on very basic hygiene and glove protocol.

The food is awesome, but the service today was hostile and unprofessional. My wife, our four children, and I come into town every few months specifically to eat here, but this was our last visit.
We were the only customers in the restaurant at 4:30 PM on Sunday (March 8th), yet the employee at the counter (black hair, glasses, wearing a Cheeto baseball cap) hounded us every two seconds while we were trying to look at the menu. Every time we told her we weren’t ready, she responded with a loud sigh and a nasty look.
It got even worse when she went on her break. She wanted to get to the soda machine to fill her own cup and became visibly impatient while my children were finishing filling theirs. I sat at our booth and watched as she stood there giving my kids nasty looks and swearing under her breath because she didn’t want to wait thirty seconds. We love the sandwiches, but we won’t be back if an employee is going to be that aggressive toward children. Management really needs to have a talk with her.

Food was awesome very yummy. Yet one guy unfortunately acted as if it was a huge inconvenience to service us and make our sub. One guy in particula that cashed us out. It gave us an very unwelcoming feeling. The other thing is we bought our child ( to the deli side not the bar) and it heard a couple cursing words dropped because they talked very loud about the how they like to build guns. Nothing wrong with building guns but you can leave the cursing out loud. So I mean food yes but I wouldn’t come back simple due to the attitudes I know people have off days but if you can joke around with all your co works but give standoffish nasty look and attitude toward costumer it’s a little weird.

I’ve been a repeat customer and can consistently say that the bar service is excellent. The staff here are great.

However, the experience completely falls apart when ordering food. There seems to be a significant disconnect between the bar and the kitchen, resulting in chronic food errors. On multiple occasions, I’ve received an overcooked pizza, the wrong menu item, and most recently, wings served completely without sauce.

The most frustrating part is the resolution process. Getting a mistake fixed takes an excessive 30 minutes, forcing me to take my corrected meal home to eat alone while the rest of my party has already finished their dinner at the table.

I appreciate consistency, but consistently having issues with my order is simply not the consistency I’m looking for.

Very unfortunate price increases. Some sandwiches are now $4+ more expensive than before. That’s pure greed, not inflation. Used to be great for university students and I found myself here at least once a week. Not likely to go again 🙁

Pizza bomb and a sandwich delivered to our workplace for me and a coworker to split. Sandwich was the most bland, tasteless mid tier thing you could possibly imagine, like pure disappointment made edible. I honestly don’t know how you even make a sandwich this bad, like….it’s a sandwich, I’m already coming in with low expectations in the first place. Albertsons or Maverick make better sandwiches than this at half the price! Subway would be orders of magnitude higher than this place.

The Pizza bomb was actually recommended to us by another human being (or was he?).

Slightly better than the sandwich but not by much.

I usually don’t like to dog a place and mostly post only my positive experiences but if I can keep someone else from wasting their time with this place it will be worth it.

Voted most overrated restaurant in Pocatello by me.

Food’s good if a bit pricey for what you get, but the service is slow and terrible and the place is a dump. Sat there one winter night with a side door open and everyone inside freezing because the ventilation is poor.

One of the employees was nice, but the line was long and we were kind of ignored for a while. One of the employees was touching food and supplies with a vape in her hand. My sandwich was really sad. I cried a little bit when I bit into it and definitely felt like this was not worth the money spent… and because I did take out, I tipped and now I feel like my tip was a little generous 🙁 just sad day.
