came here on a Friday in December at 7:30 PM and were seated immediately. The restaurant itself was very beautiful and well decorated for Christmas and there were not many people besides a few groups at the bar. To start, we received complementary cornbread with a cherry compote and honey butter. The little muffins were warm and lovely with the butter. for apps, got the calamari and brussels sprouts, both which I really enjoyed and were very flavorful with the sauces. for entrées, I got the fried chicken and my boyfriend got the burger. The chicken was dry and the burger was nothing special. Very basic American bar food.

Sorry but not sorry we’re not coming back nor recommending it. Crazy they 1. Charge automatic 20% tip, 2. Charged us for the one bug dish, 3. Chicken and waffles were so soggy, inedible, and 4. No apologies on the super delayed and staggered serving of both replacement dishes ♀️ ♀️ . DO NOT RECOMMEND. Only went to try it since it was across the State Penitentiary tour we had just completed and were hungry. ♀️

Have to try this place to feel how beautiful the inside was. The native length of the rowing boat hanging from the ceiling was wonderful. They served complimentary muffins while waiting for your meal and followed up with complimentary cookies for dessert. I will go back.

I’m a huge fan of this quaint gem, directly across the street from Eastern State Penitentiary. The food, service, and atmosphere are fantastic. There is table service, outdoor seating, and a great bar. The complimentary cornbread muffins and cookies are a delightful bonus!

I visited Jack’s Firehouse as I recently attended the Park to Broad Taste of Fairmount event.
Jack’s Firehouse had featured a few items that I really enjoyed at the event so I wanted to stop in and try them again.
I placed an order for the pulled pork on nacho chips and they did not disappoint!
I also ordered the butter cake to go as that dessert is just absolutely fabulous.
I didn’t catch the bartender’s name but he was very nice and very attentive. I enjoyed a glass of High West bourbon which sometimes is hard to find and many establishments so I was pleased.
The atmosphere was great and pretty chill.
I will definitely be back with friends.

We enjoyed an excellent meal here. Love the setting, in a historic firehouse. Plenty of seating, attentive service, great food. (I had the crab cakes and my companions ordered a pulled pork sandwich and fish and chips.) Though the menu is a single page, there are lots of options to choose from. Strongly recommend!

It’s a really amazing building and I am obsessed with the large doors. The drinks were good and I had a very good burger the other day. This is a good place to go with a big group of people or even just to get a drink. They gave us complementary cookies…..

Believe it or not, during my latest trip to Philly, this was the best cheesesteak all trip! Bread is made in house, real steak that is completely smothered in cheese. Everyone at the table ordered it and did not leave disappointed. Definitely the priciest cheesesteak we had during our Philly trip. All the food we had was great, biggest compliment complaint, portion size is slightly smaller than we’re usually accustomed to, and our server wasn’t overly attentive.

It breaks my heart to write this review of Jack’s, but please consider temporarily shutting this place down to address the obvious mouse problem. After we had received our appetizers, my daughter noticed a small mouse scurry across the dining room. I immediately informed the host. Yet, for some reason (maybe it was the cold weather or our hungry bellies dictating), we stayed. Food was mediocre at best. The soup came out at room temperature. Nothing stood out as stellar, except that my son really appreciated his cheesesteak and the fresh bread it was served on. The free mini cornbreads and small cookies also seemed out of place. However, at the end of our meal, there were now four (4) mice running around the back end of the dining room, feasting on the crumbs left behind by a large group that had just left. One mouse could have been an “oops, it came in through an open door.” Four…that’s a problem, and I felt sick to my stomach. The server, though very sweet, acknowledged the ongoing mouse problem, but nothing was done to soften the blow to us. We still paid the full price for everything, including the automatic 20% gratuity. We will definitely not be returning.
