We had such a great experience at The Water Dog! The food and atmosphere were amazing, but what really made our visit stand out was our waiter, Jade. He was absolutely excellent so attentive, thorough, and genuinely kind. He went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect for us and didn’t miss a single detail. You can tell he truly cares about his guests and takes pride in his work. We’ll definitely be back!

Love the space. Love the street and neighborhood it is in. Love the beer selections. It has a restaurant area downstairs, bar area and tables on main floor, cool decoration and signage, and a really cool outdoor area near the river. It is a great place to watch sports, with TV’s galore. We just stopped by here for a couple of drinks and had a good experience overall. I had the 6th Lord IPA that was local, and it was an awesome local beer. Wife and her sister had a couple of house cocktails for the first one, and then a mixed drink for the second, and they were solid also. The atmosphere is energetic, and the place is unique. I imagine it is a really fun place at night, or on fun days to be eating and drinking outside. I give it a solid 4, as our bar service wasn’t as personable as I like to have, and the rotation of bartenders ended up in an incorrect tab. We got someone else’s tab initially, and then ours, which was also incorrect. Bad call on my part to note that, as they gladly added the missing drinks in full (could have met us in the middle on a mistake) and ran my credit card twice. But, just being a picky ex-bartender of 14 years who judges things a lot on service received. But, sample size of one. Overall, this is a really cool spot in the downtown area and a very solid 4. Again, loved the space, the area, and the local beer. Definitely recommend stopping by here, and see you there (the next time I am in Lynchburg)…

This is a great place to go to if you enjoy good food and great views. In downtown Lynchburg it is a unique facility that has many different levels. Be cautious because the floor is uneven in places. There are different bars at different levels. They have outdoor seating as well as indoor. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. She kept our drinks coming and the food was delivered hot and ready to eat. I had the Sriracha honey smoked wings. They had a great flavor to them. My wife got the Ahi Tuna bowl and a Caesar salad. Both were delivered fresh and ready to eat.
This is a great place for small or large gatherings. Plenty of different beers on tap.

Visited for the first time yesterday and wow, it was really crowded. I think it was their 9th (?) anniversary celebration.
We met a friend there who already had a table, so we were all set for seats. But it was definitely standing room only outside by the time we got there.
We each had a wine and split the pretzel bites. The pretzels were just ok. It came with two dipping sauces but I was expecting some decent beer cheese with them at least. They were not it. Lesson learned.
Because I will go back, just not for these. The atmosphere was welcoming, the music was entertaining and our server was great!

A genuine five star experience. The server was kind and attentive. The food came out hot and fresh. The shrimp in my sandwich tasted like shrimp which is surprisingly hard to find. The sweet potatoe fries were clean cut and crispy. As my partner said, “the fries were amazingly delicious, and the barbecue was good, and the sauce was good” the lights were warm and the atmosphere cozy. It seemed to attract a very pleasant crowd of customers. Overall it will become a regular spot for me, and it should for you as well.

Stopped here on a drive from Va Beach to Blacksburg. Repurposed building in a lovely setting. Our waitress Anna was very attentive throughout our visit, even offering water & a bowl for our pups. All of the offerings were very tasty. The old-bay seasoned Chips & Dip were really good, heavy in the dip though slim in the Chips. TWD Burger was very nice. A vast drinks menu with a plethora of regional beers on tap. Doggos enjoyed the shady break too!

WD holds a special place in my heart for introducing me to an amazing IPA, Tropicannon. Most of my experience has been with the bar service and in that area they do a good job considering how busy they get
I’ve eaten here a few times over the years and the food has always been pretty good. The only issue with eating there is the strong possibility of being seated near a loud table of people getting smashed, even during the day. This isn’t the water dog’s fault but it’s worth noting for newcomers

Great spot! Has a bar outside with 2 TVs. Been here a few times and is consistently good food and service. Good beer selection and great food. This time I had the piggy melt and it was amazing! I had been craving bbq and decided to give this a try. Great choice. The toast was crispy and buttery, the pork was tender a d flavorful and the combination of the cheese and the bacon complimented it so well. I ended up trying a side order of the deviled egg pasta salad and glad I did. Loved it. Actually got fries with the sandwich because I wasn’t sure about it but next time I will go with the pasta salad instead. The fries were good so nothing against them. Also had the oysters rockefeller as an appetizer. They were juicy a d very flavorful. Our table also got the garlic bread cheese curds. My wife is from Iowa so we get them if they are on the menu. These were great with the hint of garlic. Didn’t need anything else with it so I didn’t try the marinara. Delicious! Not greasy and so full of flavor. The combination of the batter, garlic and the cheese was amazing.
