What a gem of a restaurant! Came in here after a day of shopping and was very pleased with everything. Sarah was an exceptional server on every level! Very attentive and friendly! They have a large outdoor patio in the back and a smaller patio in the front as well as high top tables in the interior with TVs and then in another room, a lot of comfortable booth seating.

I enjoyed a skinny margarita, my favorite! I went to the salsa bar to find the perfect salsa for my warm sturdy chips that Sarah brought out for me. I love the salsa bar! All tasty with different levels of heat. Then I enjoyed my combination lunch special, which was the hard chicken taco and enchilada with extra refried beans. Everything had excellent flavor, seasoning, and just simply unctuous and lovely! Highly recommend this place and it’s got reasonable prices as well!

The food is extraordinarily delicious, and the service is exceptional. The patio is really comfy, and it is pet-friendly.

Pozole was delicious and on point – not at all spicy which is why they give you a lot of chili/Mexican oregano mix to customize (honestly, even kids who like soup would love it).
Great for those chilly evenings. Tender fall apart pork with just a wee bit of fat. Appreciated the abundance of garnishes.

Patio is dog friendly, so my buddy was able to join me.

House margarita is legit – nice and tart the way I like it and plenty strong without only tasting tequila.

Complimentary chips come with a salsa bar that has everything from mild to pickled onions and spicy carrots.

Host and waiter were super friendly and helpful. Thank you!!!

Cost was reasonable considering size of the soup and margarita!

The food was average at best me and my husband did not finish our food. We didn’t even wanna take it to go. Our drinks were also not good! It was also very expensive and the portions were not good.
All of the waiters, including the bartenders had frowns or looked miserable. They practically rushed us out of there, even though we were polite…. we paid our tab and even tipped before we left. (please be sure to check your receipt because I believe this place adds gratuity )
It is my honest opinion that we will never be back. Sorry but not sorry.

Much better than the online reviews said.
The place was cool and had style.
The staff were very attentive and professional.
And the food was surprisingly flavorful, we really liked the Carnitas. Good Mexican spot in Big Bear 🙂

Let’s just say I had low expectations being up in Big Bear where the food is normally unseasoned, overpriced etc…

El Jacalito had great service, the employees were helpful and kind, the decor was great and it’s much bigger than expected. The atmosphere is clean, organized, and fun. The food was fantastic and we cannot wait to go back and try more!

Came here with a large group, we were pleasantly surprised by how good the food was. I didn’t expect to find good Mexican food in big bear but it really is. The carne asada fries were a stand out and my friends loved the pork tamales and enchiladas too. Would totally recommend.

Ask for Daniel- best service provider!Seriously delicious food! Portions are huge and the taste is spot on. The salsas were so fresh. We ordered a shredded chicken burrito- well seasoned. Waiter was so efficient he refilled our chips and salsa and when our coffee was 1/4 the way full he asked if we need more. My daughter’s salad had beef in every bite. Place was crowded, and all that arrived were quickly accommodated and served.

We came after a day of skiing. Came hungry and left satisfied and stuffed.

Food: huge portion and yummy! Had Chip and salsa, chicken tortilla soup, California burrito, and carnitas plate.

Service: prompt, attentive, and friendly.

Good value for the entire experience.

I would it give 5 stars but the waitress was under pressure , and there was only 3 people for the restaurant. The food was amazing.
Good prices. We ordered flautas trio, flautas, the best. Little maintenance would help.Highly recommended
