The hot corned beef on homemade rye was outstanding — tender, perfectly heated, and piled generously without being overwhelming. The rye bread tasted fresh and had that ideal balance of softness and structure that holds everything together without getting soggy. Every bite was rich, savory, and exactly what you hope for when ordering a classic deli sandwich.
And the pickles — wow. Crisp, flavorful, and perfectly brined. They weren’t just a side; they elevated the entire meal with that bright, tangy snap that complements hot corned beef so well.
Service made the experience even better. Our server, John, was witty, smart, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. He struck the perfect balance between attentive and relaxed, making the whole visit feel welcoming and enjoyable.
If you’re looking for superb deli fare with personality and quality to match, Pickles Deli delivers. We’ll definitely be back.
I ordered a Philly Cheesesteak (American way) which the cashier didn’t know what that meant, and asked if I wanted cheese whiz or another type of cheese, even though it’s spelled out on their menu. She was NOT very friendly all, and her nose ring didn’t help matters.
I waited the avg time of 10-15 min not a problem. When I got back to the office I was a little surprised at how little actual steak there was. Not only was it barely there but the grill person went way too heavy on the salt. However the sandwich was tasty barring all the salt, the bread was toasted which is a plus.
I know food prices have skyrocketed lately but, I paid $14. for an OK sandwich. Will think twice before returning.
Staff was great, the place is clean, & i absolutely adore all the NYC decor – they even have a subway mural! Too cool!
Let’s be clear: nothing here comes close to real New York deli food—especially Katz’s on Houston Street. If this place wants to claim they’re better, they should probably take that off the menu immediately.
We ordered the half Brooklyn Reuben with potato salad and the French dip with fries. The food came quickly and was hot. Maybe too quickly as the fries could have used another 30 to 60 seconds more in the fryer. They were hot but slightly under cooked. The Reuben was good along with the potato salad was very good too, good portion sizes. The French dip was tasty, a good size and the dip was enough for the whole sandwich. I wish they would serve the dip in a wider cup, not to get more, but so you can dip the sandwich better.
The service was good, the waitress was prompt, friendly and checked on us frequently.
They also have a counter for pickles, cheese cake and cookies.
Their prices are about on par with others and they do offer a discount on the bill if you pay in cash, which markets much better than saying they charge extra for non cash payments. The discount is probably their exact margin for their merchant account costs. The menu prices are their price, no fancy math required if you pay electronically.
