If you’re anywhere near Longwood and craving an authentic deli experience, Pickles Deli is an absolute must.

The hot corned beef on homemade rye was outstanding — tender, perfectly heated, and piled generously without being overwhelming. The rye bread tasted fresh and had that ideal balance of softness and structure that holds everything together without getting soggy. Every bite was rich, savory, and exactly what you hope for when ordering a classic deli sandwich.

And the pickles — wow. Crisp, flavorful, and perfectly brined. They weren’t just a side; they elevated the entire meal with that bright, tangy snap that complements hot corned beef so well.

Service made the experience even better. Our server, John, was witty, smart, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. He struck the perfect balance between attentive and relaxed, making the whole visit feel welcoming and enjoyable.

If you’re looking for superb deli fare with personality and quality to match, Pickles Deli delivers. We’ll definitely be back.

So I stopped in again for a sandwich but wasn’t sure what I wanted. I’ve tried the pastrami and the corned beef in the past and both were pretty good. But today I wanted something different.
I ordered a Philly Cheesesteak (American way) which the cashier didn’t know what that meant, and asked if I wanted cheese whiz or another type of cheese, even though it’s spelled out on their menu. She was NOT very friendly all, and her nose ring didn’t help matters.
I waited the avg time of 10-15 min not a problem. When I got back to the office I was a little surprised at how little actual steak there was. Not only was it barely there but the grill person went way too heavy on the salt. However the sandwich was tasty barring all the salt, the bread was toasted which is a plus.
I know food prices have skyrocketed lately but, I paid $14. for an OK sandwich. Will think twice before returning.

What an great little find! I would have never found it if a friend hadn’t told me about it. (This is a true friend – a keeper). I recommend, pretty much, anything, but the pastrami & potato salad are sooooo on point! De-Lish!

Staff was great, the place is clean, & i absolutely adore all the NYC decor – they even have a subway mural! Too cool!

As a New Yorker, I was craving something authentic, so naturally I drove almost an hour for this place. Bold move. I ordered the pastrami sandwich, because that’s kind of the whole point. They proudly offer pastrami, corned beef, and a pastrami platter, which sounds impressive until you actually eat it.
Let’s be clear: nothing here comes close to real New York deli food—especially Katz’s on Houston Street. If this place wants to claim they’re better, they should probably take that off the menu immediately.

The girlfriend surprised me with lunch on a casual, beautiful Saturday afternoon. I dined like a king! Kinish starter, Chicken parm hoagie, Big Ragu pizza and a Reese’s cheesecake and washed it down with a Yuengling and Dr Pepper. The gf got a Ruban with a chocolate cheesecake and 6 cookie sampler pack. Our server Lauren was amazing! We were well taken care of. Can’t wait to come back soon with my tiny Italian Brooklyn mother.

Looking for a more authentic good Reuben and decided to try here. Was quickly able to order to go. The sandwich is really good but very expensive for what you get. This sandwich alone that came with a pickle $17. Not worth it in my opinion.

I have been a weekly diner at pickles for a few years now. My friends and I have expressed our disappointment in the changes and especially the food quality since the new ownership. I love this place and want it to succeed. An example of this is during my last visit was in regards to a Cuban sandwhich. It was truly a ham and cheese sub. It was a hoagie roll with mayonnaise and not the ham that they used to have. It wasn’t even pressed! I feel like comments from the locals are not getting through to management…. Even the servers realize how the food is slipping. I’ve always loved going to Pickles at the drop of a hat, but I am now finding myself searching for other places, even if I have to drive much further. Sad and disappointed.

Ok so after all these years mom, and I finally checked this place out! It’s always been busy, and could never figure out why! There isn’t a lot of tables inside, and there’s a couple outside! Honestly, I don’t know what all the hype is about this place! However, I really didn’t care sitting that close to the bathroom. Plus the people who were waiting for their Togo orders. I think they just tried to do too much for such a small place! Plus it didn’t help when a “Karen” comes in, and wanting to have top service! I thought that the bread was actually too soaked with butter or oil whatever they use. I might come back to try something different. However, my personal experience was just it’s ok.

Pickles is a nice deli and very casual. We were greeted quickly and found a table right away. Menus were given to us upon sitting down along with getting our drink orders. They have Pepsi products so if you’re a Coca-Cola fan, you’ll be disappointed.

We ordered the half Brooklyn Reuben with potato salad and the French dip with fries. The food came quickly and was hot. Maybe too quickly as the fries could have used another 30 to 60 seconds more in the fryer. They were hot but slightly under cooked. The Reuben was good along with the potato salad was very good too, good portion sizes. The French dip was tasty, a good size and the dip was enough for the whole sandwich. I wish they would serve the dip in a wider cup, not to get more, but so you can dip the sandwich better.

The service was good, the waitress was prompt, friendly and checked on us frequently.

They also have a counter for pickles, cheese cake and cookies.

Their prices are about on par with others and they do offer a discount on the bill if you pay in cash, which markets much better than saying they charge extra for non cash payments. The discount is probably their exact margin for their merchant account costs. The menu prices are their price, no fancy math required if you pay electronically.

Due to an unpleasant experience years ago, we had not been to this place in quite some time, however, we gave it a try this morning for breakfast and it was a 10 out of 10, the corned beef hash and breakfast burrito were amazing and the iced espresso latte was also incredible. Great service good atmosphere this place is back on the map for sure. Thank you.
