Enjoyed my experience at Happy Lamb Hot Pot. This style hotpot is very interactive as they bring you the meats and broth, but everything else you go up and grab from the ingredient bar.

My boyfriend and I split the half and half broth, one was spicy and one wasn’t. Then we got the all you can eat standard meat package–our favorite was the classic beef.

After ordering this, we went up to get veggies, noodles, and seafood options. There is also a DIY sauce station where you can customize a sauce.
The experience really depends on what you make of it, and after a few rounds and observing others, I got my footing and had a better idea of what to mix and make it tasty!

They also have a few appetizers and desserts in addition to the classic hot pot.

Overall it was a fun experience and I would come back here.

Prices were pretty good too since you can eat as much as you want. Staff was also helpful and came around a lot to check on us.

Service wasn’t the best and we had to flag down the waiters and waitresses constantly to order more premium items.

Broth was a bit lacking in flavor, but majority of items were quite fresh.

I am writing to formally complain about my experience at Happy Lamb today, which was by far one of the worst service experiences I have ever had.

My friends and I were the first table of the day right at opening time. A male and a female staff member greeted us and led us to our table. Before we even had a chance to sit down properly, look at the menu, or understand how the restaurant works, the female staff member immediately demanded that we place our order.

This was my first time dining at Happy Lamb, and I clearly stated that to her. Any professional server should understand that first-time guests need time to review the menu and receive guidance. Instead, she stood over us, repeatedly pushing us to order, even after I politely asked for a moment.

At one point, I had to answer a phone call. While I was on the phone, I again asked for a little time. Any normal, well-mannered person would step away and return later—especially when there were three guests at the table and only one who had ever been to Happy Lamb before. She did not. She continued to pressure us. This behavior was extremely rude, uncomfortable, and unprofessional.

We came to this location because my friend highly recommended Happy Lamb based on her experience at another branch (Chinatown), where the service was excellent. Unfortunately, this location was the complete opposite.

Because no explanation was given, I believed that choosing seafood required ordering the Premium package, since the menu only clearly showed Classic vs. Premium. I later found out there is a self-serve food area that is also available for the Classic package. Had this been explained properly—as it should have been for first-time guests—I would not have ordered Premium.

When we realized this and politely asked if we could switch to the Classic package, we were told it was not possible because meat had already been ordered. I understood and accepted that. My issue is not the policy, but the fact that no guidance or explanation was provided at all, and instead we were rushed into ordering.

I am also a server myself. I understand service standards, guest experience, and basic hospitality. What I experienced from this female staff member was a complete lack of professionalism, manners, and customer care. It was the worst service management I have ever encountered, and I almost never leave negative reviews.

The only reason this experience was tolerable was because of the male server, Al, who genuinely took care of our table and treated us with kindness and respect.

At the end of the meal, we asked whether tips are shared. When we were told they are pooled, I want to be very clear:
The $60 tip we left was entirely because of Al’s service. The female staff member does not deserve to benefit from it.

I will never return to this location again, though I may consider other Happy Lamb branches in the future. I hope management takes this complaint seriously and addresses the lack of proper training and professionalism displayed today.

This is great hotpot in Central Square. The service was awesome. They sang happy birthday to my friend and brought a candle in ice cream for him. They proactively asked if anyone had nut allergies. Any time we ordered more meat it was brought very quickly. They have a great selection of all you can eat veggies, noodles, and treats to add to your soup. Their thai tea and lychee sake was super tasty too! Definitely check this place out!

Our party of 6 thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Happy Lamb Hot Pot. This place was packed on Christmas, but it didn’t deter from the quality. The staff seemed overwhelmed, but they were efficient and it was wonderful to be able to just go up and pick as many items as you want for your hot pot while they come out with the meat. I wish we came here again before we left Cambridge!

This place is awesome the only problem is with space, There were 5 of us and our table was super small. Otherwise I can say that the food is spectacular, a good experience, and the person who served us was very kind and patient in explaining it to us.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Happy Lamp Hot Pot, located in the vibrant heart of Central Square, and what an experience it was! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere promised a fun and engaging dining experience, and it certainly delivered.

The hot pot itself was absolutely delicious. The broth was rich and flavorful, creating the perfect base for all the fresh and high-quality ingredients we could choose from. Whether you’re a meat lover, seafood enthusiast, or vegetarian, there’s something for everyone, and the adventure of cooking your food right at your table adds an exciting twist to the meal.

What stood out to me, apart from the delectable food, was the sheer fun of the experience. Happy Lamp Hot Pot is the ideal spot for a group of friends or family looking to enjoy not just a meal, but a truly social and interactive dining experience. The staff was friendly and helpful, guiding us through the menu and making recommendations that enhanced our meal.

The Central Square location is perfect for anyone looking to dive into the local culture and enjoy a lively dining scene. It’s easy to get to, and once you’re there, you’re in for a treat

I rarely write bad reviews, but my experience at Happy Lamb Hotpot was frustrating enough that I feel like people should know what they might be walking into. The food may have a decent reputation, but all of that gets buried when the service makes you feel unwelcome from the moment you sit down.

We were served by a tall, skinny male waiter who looked like he would rather be anywhere else than doing his job. From the first interaction, his attitude was cold and impatient. He barely spoke, and acted annoyed when we order. There was no greeting, no smile, no basic courtesy — just this constant vibe of, “Hurry up, you’re bothering me.” It honestly made the whole meal uncomfortable( just him though the waitress was super nice to us).

What bothered me even more was the difference in how he treated other tables compared with ours. I watched him be friendlier and more attentive to white customers while turning around and giving us the bare minimum( the Asians). It wasn’t subtle — it was obvious. I noticed he’s cold to all other Asian tables while I was there. It felt like respect was optional and we simply didn’t qualify. That kind of selective service doesn’t just feel rude; it feels insulting.

And here’s what really stuck with me: this restaurant sits in a community where there are signs reminding people to “stop Asian hate,” yet somehow, inside the restaurant, the disrespect is coming from someone within our own culture. If we can’t treat each other with basic decency, how are we supposed to expect respect from anyone else? The irony would almost be funny if it weren’t so disappointing.

Happy Lamb Hot Pot is a AYCE (formerly a-la carte) hotpot restaurant located in the heart of Cambridge near Lafayette Square.

The staff are friendly, but tend to not be involved beyond bringing out meats and the hotpot broth. We’ve never really had an issue with the staff though.

The food is pretty good. Similar to other locations, they have a standard selection of seafood, vegetables, and other additions for the hotpot. They also have a decent sauce bar that is good to go well with your food.

Overall, a chill experience for cold days or for eating with friends.

So this location has only chicken based broth, even though the menu says beef and chicken broth. The spicy broth is very yummy. The lamb is delicious and is included in the price. I loved the fish, calamari and shrimp paste. They have fried rice and spring roll also as starters while your broth is getting warmed. They have ice cream also which is such a delight after having spicy broth.
