I ordered the calamari and at $22, the portion was decent, but it was inedible. I had a few pieces, but it was extremely overcooked, but not just chewy, there was no bounce in the calamari at all. She said it was the last order so maybe it was just old. I understand you can’t clean the fryer every use, but I have decades restaurant management experience and seems this fry oil needs to be changed more often.
I ordered the wedge salad and again, just very lackluster. I didn’t have the menu right with me so I was taking off what seems like residue artichoke pieces that were left in the fryer, I really wasn’t sure. Now I see on the menu those were maybe the “crispy onions.”
Crispy onions should be fresh, fluffy and “crisp.” In reading some other reviews it seems there is a commonality of cheap, not the most freshly consistent ingredients, marked way up.
Anyway, kind of a bummer. If management wants to reach out I’m happy to discuss further.
I didn’t take a picture of the calamari because I thought it was just a fluke-just burned.
Ask for Michael as your server, he is very knowledgeable and friendly. He made sure we were having a good time and his service was 5⭐️
Definitely a great experience.
If you are at Long Beach airport and have time to have drinks and a bite, come to the boat house and if you’re lucky to get Michael as your server, you won’t regret it.
I couldn’t believe how quickly the food came out, and my server, Giovanna, went above and beyond to make sure that everyone at the bar was taken care of. Tremendous staff and experience, here!!
Giovanna was great too!! Great Bloody Mary, and so nice to guests. I love an interactive bartender. It’s nice considering most nowadays are just robots behind a bar (coming from a veteran bartender.)
