Highly recommend visiting The Bison Bar in Dublin City centre. It’s a great location if you’re looking for a cool bar just out of Tremple Bar. It’s has a great little beer garden in the back and great Guinness. Go check it out!

I had some fantastic ribs with cheesey macaroni. The ribs were cooked to perfection and almost melted in my mouth. I also had a delicious brownie with fudge sauce and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. They also have some cocktails and I tried the Bison Hard Lemonade which tasted really good.
They are going for a bit of a rustic look and it works. You feel comfortable straight away. At the start of my visit there there were only one person managing both the bar and restaurant part of the place. Despite this the service was fast and very friendly. If they were feeling stressed, I know I would, it didn’t show.
I’ll happily come back for more ribs and hard lemonade

Lovely place very quirky, really cool smoking area for a bar and staff were very friendly and attentive. Only down fall was the food went cold very quickly, don’t know whether this was due to a draft coming through to where we were sitting but food was tasty enough and what you would expect from a bbq place. We got the meat platters with all meats included, the beef sausage was my favourite very different. The ribs were less barbecue sauce but had more of a spice to them which didn’t really appeal to us but was tasty all the same. The brisket is probably the best thing to get as its cooked to perfection and not smothered on bbq sauce so as to not take away from the flavour of the a actual brisket itself. The Mac and cheese was also very comforting and tasty.

My husband was initially a bit suspicious about going for BBQ as he’s spent a fair bit of time in Texas and didn’t think that would ever be matched for a BBQ experience. Happily, this was not the case.
When you go in, you will think you’ve entered a dive bar of the highest order. The front room is small, the goodies are out the back. Without a doubt, they serve the largest onion rings I have ever seen. I did think they might be super greasy as they were so large. This was an unfounded fear. They were perfectly cooked and nice and crisp. We had chicken, pork, and beef, and I couldn’t honestly tell you which was my favourite. We didn’t even use the supplied extra sauces as the meat was perfect. The loaded fries were also excellent with actual bacon pieces, not fatty lardons or fake bacon bits.
We also got a whisky flight and our waitress went to the extra effort of covering the names so I could have fun seeing if my husband could find his favourite. He couldn’t and was appropriately (gently) mocked. Our waitress was an absolute delight, super friendly, and super speedy! I wish her well in her degree.
The other patrons who were clearly regulars were also wonderfully friendly, and we ended up having a chat with two other tables. Honestly, this was one of the best nights out I’ve had in a while, go get some excellent BBQ, you will not regret it.

€19.50 for a jack Daniel’s and Coke? Never again. You are not in temple bar, you are not charging competitive prices for the rest of your drinks, this makes absolutely no sense and is an outrageous amount for a single shot and a dash of coke. I will be warning all of my friends about ever coming here.

I honestly don’t even know where to begin with how disappointing our experience was at Bison Bar & BBQ.
First of all, I made a booking in advance and clearly stated that there would be 5 of us. When we arrived, we were given a table for 4. How does that even happen? We had to point it out ourselves, which was already frustrating and embarrassing.
On top of that, the noise level was unbearable. The people behind us were playing pool and it was ridiculously loud. We could barely hear each other speak. We noticed an empty table and asked staff if we could move, and they confirmed that it was fine — so we moved ourselves. No assistance, no apology, nothing.
We ordered drinks and waited an extremely long time to receive them. We tried to be understanding because it seemed busy, but what followed was unacceptable. We ordered our food and waited an hour and a half. An hour and a half. We arrived at 8:00pm and didn’t even receive our starter until 9:20pm. Meanwhile, a group that arrived around 8:30pm received their food before us. How does that make any sense?
When the food finally came, it was completely wrong. We asked for simple wings with the sauce on the side and fries. The wings arrived plain — no sauce, no fries. Just dry, basic wings. The food itself was extremely hard and honestly disgusting.
I ordered a crispy buttermilk chicken burger and it was inedible. The crust was rock hard and the chicken inside seemed undercooked. It was absolutely not crispy in a good way — it was just tough and unpleasant. For the price we paid, the quality was shocking.
The overall service was poor, disorganized, and inattentive. No one checked on us, no one apologized for the delay, and there was no effort made to fix the issues properly. It felt like we were completely forgotten about.
This was genuinely one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had. Between the incorrect booking, excessive wait times, incorrect orders, awful food quality, and chaotic atmosphere, I would not recommend this place to anyone. Very disappointing from start to finish.

Good quality hearty BBQ food on offer. The atmosphere is somewhat lacking in the restaurant but there is good service and they were relatively quick bringing food out. We enjoyed our food and would recommend but would personally try another restaurant before returning.

Nice place for groups and good if you’re looking for some decent priced cocktails. Pork mac and cheese is a must and the ribs were also a big hit amongst the group. Our server, Alberto, was very friendly and attentive. Would come back for another meal.
