Everything I expected it to be. This was a bucket list dining experience for me and it was amazing. McKenna our server was efficient, knowledgeable and friendly. Our food was superb – we started with the Ahi Tartare and for entrees had pork and homemade pasta. Do not skip on dessert! The chocolate lava cake and lilikoi ice cream were delicious!

My wife and I ate at 53 By The Sea a while back and somehow forgot to post—but this brunch absolutely deserved the reminder. We’ve always loved brunch here, and once again the service, ambiance, and food were dialed in. The sweeping ocean views, with Diamond Head in the distance, never get old and make brunch feel like a mini escape.

We started with the Fresh Oysters, bright and refreshing, layered with preserved lemon, coconut, lemongrass oil, and Haleiwa salt—clean, coastal flavors that set the tone perfectly.

The Market Catch was cooked just right and paired beautifully with canary beans, green beans, charred tomatoes, chili, and a punchy green olive salsa verde.

The clear star was the Savory Dutch Baby, loaded with Maine sea scallops and Atlantic lobster tail, finished with vanilla drawn butter (and yes, we added the poached egg—zero regrets). Rich, indulgent, and completely worth it.

Paired with a crisp Pinot Grigio and those views, it made for another memorable brunch. A consistently excellent spot and one we’ll happily keep coming back to.

One of the restaurants with the most beautiful views in Hawaii.

It offers a 360° ocean view and overlooks Diamond Head. While dining you can watch sunset cruise boats gradually heading out to sea and see surfers riding the waves.Which creates a wonderful atmosphere.

The food are delicious. The service is excellent and valet parking is available. I recommend making a reservation in advance as the restaurant is fully booked every day.

The perfect date spot! Fine dining literally by the sea. We went on a Friday night and caught the Hilton Hawaiian Village fireworks show at the distance on the patio. Cocktails were stiff and tasty. Food was a culinary experience. The service was professional and timely. Also, the building itself is very charming and elegant! We’ll be back.

Elegant atmosphere, good food, and a memorable dining experience from start to finish. We came for my wife’s birthday and tried the tasting menu.

Highlights included the beautifully plated lamb chop, flavorful ravioli with crispy pork belly, and the delicate seared fish over romesco and greens. Every course was presented with care and the cocktails were just as impressive, especially the bae watch and the perfectly balanced knob cook old fashioned.

The service was very good, although the food was not quite flawless, which is the only reason I’m not giving 5 stars across the board. That said, the overall experience was absolutely worth it. Nice ambiance, waterfront views, and a great meal.

I recommend if you’re looking for a high-end dinner spot in Honolulu.

Waikiki strip is amazing and great for all of your touristy endeavors, but I’m telling you, grab a Lyft here because this place has to be added to your list of hot spots to hit for a bit of much needed and deserved decadence off the strip.
Do not worry about booking a table on the deck, the views are absolutely stunning, the sunset is breathtaking and they have really gone above and beyond to engineer wind deference and elements since you are so close to the ocean. Watching the surfers so close added to the fun.
They have thought of everything.
Which, brings me to the food and wine and really fun cocktails.
Listen, if you appreciate food plated so well it is like a bon vivants journey through an art museum, you’re going to appreciate every single plate here.
It isn’t just art though, every ingredient is of the highest caliber, fresh, local, or exotic and preserved impeccably.
A true symphony of tastes married together mellifluously.
And one last huge shout out to their team here, because even the best food can be ruined by bad service, and maybe we got lucky, but our guy was genuinely nice, and a huge fan of the dishes himself so the shared exuberance for each dish really elevated the overall experience.
Check out the videos as the menu can change seasonally but this place is definitely #worththejaunt

Had the opportunity to celebrate my birthday at 53 by the Sea which was a lovely way to enjoy my evening. Elegant restaurant with stunning views of the city to appreciate day and night.
Valet services are provided with no additional fee.
As for the restaurant, every staff member is warm and inviting so enhance your experience. Our server Tony was superb with his service and we could tell he was having a busy night with all the tables he was serving; did not stop him from checking on us in a timely fashion.
We opted with the tasting menu and wine pairing, had a cocktail to start and it was immaculate. Each dish was delicious with gorgeous plating, keep in mind some items were a bit smaller in portion than we had read on the menu, specifically the lamb.
Overall a great option for a tasty meal and experience.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at 53 By The Sea in Hawaii on September 27th to celebrate a birthday. From the moment we arrived, the restaurant presented itself as an establishment of exceptional quality.
The service was a highlight; the staff were warm in their greeting and commendably prompt and attentive to our table and other guests. The culinary experience was equally superb. Every dish we ordered was fantastic, prepared and presented to a high standard, and I was pleasantly surprised to find the pricing to be quite reasonable given the quality and location.
However, the evening took an unfortunate turn due to circumstances outside of the restaurant’s direct control, which significantly impacted our overall experience. We were seated on the patio, an initially tranquil setting perfect for a celebration, where the quiet ambiance was shared respectfully by the only other couple present. Regrettably, the arrival of a large group of five women completely disrupted this peaceful atmosphere. Their excessively loud and boisterous behavior—including constant movement for photos and generally disruptive conduct—was highly distracting and ultimately ruined the quiet, intimate setting we had sought out.
While I understand that restaurants cannot perfectly control every guest’s behavior, I believe a venue of this caliber, especially in a quieter section like the patio, should strive to maintain a certain level of decorum. It was deeply disappointing to have an otherwise perfect, special occasion marred by such an extreme lack of consideration from fellow diners.
In summary, 53 By The Sea is an exceptional restaurant based on its phenomenal food, attentive service, and beautiful setting. My humble hope is that management may consider ways to gently intervene when the behavior of a small group so negatively affects the experience of others, especially in designated quiet areas. Despite the unfortunate ending, the quality of the dining experience itself makes it a place I would consider revisiting.

Oysters were good but my steak was 85 dollars for a ribeye, I assumed the price would indicate some degree of flavor would be present but not only did it lack a basic sear it also seemed to be unseasoned. My wife had the roasted Lions Mane and while it was decent it wasn’t anything I couldn’t have done myself for less cost.
The menu apparently changed two days prior to us going there, I think the saffron season or lamb I saw on different menus posted would have been higher quality meals and those menus as a whole looked a great deal better than my options.
It was worth it just for my wife since she wanted to go but if I wanted a steak of that quality I’d toss some grapeseed oil in a pan, a 20 dollar ribeye in at medium high heat, and have saved 65 dollars.
Service was good though and the building is decent, good seating though the tables for the cushioned seats/booths need longer/wider tops so one doesn’t need to lean forward to reach the food.

Beautiful location with a great view of Waikiki. The restaurant has valet parking and would be a place I would consider for a special dining experience. There is an upstairs area for larger parties and the noise from the party upstairs traveled down to the dining area. The food was amazing. I had an 8 ounce filet and it was probably the best I have had on the island. Well seasoned and great texture. My husband had the seafood pasta, which we were told is made in house, and it had great flavor and was not heavy. The wine selection is more limited than other places on island but they have a great selection. There is also a large selection of specialty drinks and mocktails. For dessert, we had the blueberry cheesecake which had a delicious crumble on top. I would definitely go here again!
