This place is busy on a Sunday at 1pm, which makes sense! But the line moved faster than we thought, and the ice cream came out quickly! We got a beeper for our sandwiches which came out roughly half an hour later. Overall it was delicious and we will absolutely go again!

It’s true. They have never made a bad sandwich. I’ve had their Korean pork shoulder (seasonal) and their beef cheek sandwich (also seasonal) and both were superb. I still have dreams about them. You’ll also find inventive drinks like a mulle wine. It’s very popular so come here with patience.

What a fun place! Sugarpine has been on my list to try for forever and we finally decided to go for my daughter’s birthday. I was a little worried about how busy I’d heard it gets and showing up in November, but honestly they have everything down to a science. It was surprisingly fast, we had no issues getting a spot to sit, and everyone was so friendly and welcoming! It’s extremely cute, and the soft serve was fun and delicious. They even added a candle to the birthday girl’s dessert.
There’s a ton of cute and fun little extras around, from a giant pumpkin named Bob, to super adorable coloring sheets. We’ll be back for sure!

SO GOOD!! I got the waffle grilled cheese with tomato soup and the moose tracks ice cream. Both were 10/10!! It is a bit on the pricer side, but 100% worth it!! The food came out super fast. The only reason I put 4 starts for atmosphere is because it’s a small space and you have to wait a bit to get seated.

But Sugarpine absolutely nailed it.
The sandwiches were delicious—tender, flavorful, and messy in the best way. Everything tasted fresh and intentional, as if someone had actually cared while making it. No dry meat, no weird balance issues, just straight-up delicious.
And the desserts… wow. Creative, rich, and not over-the-top sweet. Every bite was better than the last. You can tell a lot of thought goes into what they serve here.
This place lived up to the hype and then some. We left full, happy, and already talking about coming back. Easily one of the best spots around.
P.S. I need a box of the peanut butter cups. Immediately.

Their swirl looks so pretty and it’s really popular too! I got the vegan one with toppings, and you can choose your own toppings!

Heading out toward Mount Hood and the breathtaking Oregon Gorge, you’ll find this small, unassuming spot that was once a gas station—now transformed into an upscale, thoughtfully designed, and wildly comforting drive-in. This is not the place you want to skip when you’re on your way to Vista House or Multnomah Falls. The warmth, hospitality, and intentionality behind everything they do makes it feel like a destination, not just a stop.
The staff alone deserves a standing ovation. You can tell they truly love what they do, and it shows in every plate they hand out. The food here isn’t just delicious—it’s edible art.
First things first: always try the sandwich special of the month. The owners and chefs frequently collaborate with local restaurants, and somehow they manage to create sandwiches that are completely out of this world. Everything is made from scratch, and the rotating monthly specials keep things exciting and seasonal.
My top two favorites from the past year:
• Albacore Tuna Melt – This one comes around a few times a year and it is perfect. Fresh, clean albacore paired with red onion, mayo, and celery creates a balance that’s both light and hearty. I always add the chili crunch oil (because chili crunch belongs on almost everything ❤️ ), and it takes it to another level.
• Pear / Apple Melt (seasonal) – Depending on the season, this sandwich is pure magic. The sweetness of the fruit paired with the bold, savory richness of the cheese creates a flavor combination that literally reminds me of that scene in Ratatouille—an explosion of taste you want to relive over and over again. Perfectly cooked pears or apples, usually a blend of one hard cheese and one soft cheese, chives, and that waffle-style Texas toast… unreal.
Their tomato soup deserves its own shoutout too—deep, rich Roma tomato flavor with no cream or dairy, making it perfect for a cool fall day and a big bonus for anyone with allergies or dietary restrictions.
And finally—you must get dessert. I don’t make the rules; I just enforce them.
The handmade soft-serve ice cream is next-level. Every sundae they create is a literal work of art—almost too beautiful to eat (almost). They also offer thoughtful vegan and vegetarian options, doing their absolute best to make sure everyone can enjoy something special.
I could honestly go on forever about Sugarpine. We lost our Nordstrom Café here in Clackamas, and I will happily drive out to the Gorge for Sugarpine because it brings back that same feeling—elevated, aesthetically comforting food that feels like home.

We got there right when open. Have a few tables inside with a 45 minute time limit and tables outside. Seem to cater more towards ice cream. Tried the tri-tip dip and pulled pork. Both were really good. Took about 10 min for food. Also tried the snickers sundae which was ready in minutes. Was pretty busy when we left.

We went on a Sunday afternoon in February. We came all the way from Beaverton because I had seen an instagram reel a few years ago and bookmarked it because it looked like a fun and unique place to go to. Unfortunately, that wasn’t our experience. It wasn’t really very fun at all and definitely wasn’t worth the drive. The biggest problem is this place seems to be way too popular for their own good. At about 2:30 pm there was a line thru the restaurant, out the door, around the back side and down the other side of the building. About 50-60 people in line, that moved incredibly slow. Then once I got inside, I could see that all they had was one order taker!!! If that wasn’t frustrating enough, you’re forced to pay 20% tip on your bill for the pleasure of having to wait in line for an hour. Which is just adding insult to injury. If you want to pay your workers more, just raise their wages and charge more for your product. But don’t use forced tips to do that. People hate that!!! This is my #1 reason for leaving a 1-star review. If it hadn’t been for this stupid policy I might have rated this place 2 or 3 stars. But that just irked me from almost the start.
Then the restaurant only has a handful of small tables, many of which are just for 2 people. And of course, they’re all taken. So 80% of the people who eat here have to do so outside.
They do have picnic tables and even some in a big tent as well, which I guess is nice. Except when it’s 40 degrees outside it still isn’t pleasant to have to eat outside at all.
The food was also not as good as we expected, given the hype about this place. Ice cream was good but I wouldn’t go out of the way for it. The brittle on the ice cream tasted burnt. But whatever it was, it wasn’t tasty. Hot chocolate wasn’t sweet enough. Sandwich was way too heavy with thick toast bread and you couldn’t hardly taste the meat and cheese.
Overall, I don’t understand what the hype is about. Lackluster food, poor seating options, ridiculously overcrowded. Won’t be going back.

I always recommend getting their seasonal specials. I most recently did their sando special and sundae special. The sundaes are always perfectly balanced for flavor and texture. Always a crunchy element, which I love! Trust them. They know what you’re doing. I tried building my own sundae once and it just wasn’t good.
