I stayed in Alamogordo while visiting White Sands National Park, and came to Waffle & Pancake Shoppe for brunch. Now, I’m a big fan of Waffle House, and I thought that this restaurant would be a cheap(er) imitation of Waffle House, but I was very pleasantly surprised.
The restaurant was very crowded when I arrived and there were many customers who were waiting to be seated. Luckily, I found a spot at the bar so I didn’t have to wait long.
I had the 2 Egg Plate breakfast. The hashbrowns were nice and crispy, and the eggs were cooked just as I like them.
Despite the restaurant being very busy, the waitress provided excellent service, showing remarkable patience and attentiveness to all patrons. She ensured every customer was satisfied with their food and kept all coffee cups filled. I also noticed that the staff exhibited outstanding teamwork and communication, creating an unexpectedly positive and efficient atmosphere.

This is the old high desert breakfast joint all the locals go to, lived here many years ago and was visiting recently and its still good. I had the country fried steak, wife bacon and eggs, still the same amazing food, hot and cooked perfectly. The next day I had the huevos ranchos with green – damm good and plenty selection of jelly.
In 2011 this place was shut down for two weeks when Robert De Niro filmed a movie in the place ” This Must Be the Place ” staff had said at the time, De Niro was a jerk and one day only tipped 25 cents, but great little place to check off if you are movie fan.

What an amazing diner! I got their Cinnamon Raisin Waffle and a side of scrambled egg. The waffle was warm, soft and delicious! The egg was cooked to perfection! The waiter was really attentive too. Definitely recommend stopping by here.

*first visit… my son is in the Air Force and he brought our family here for breakfast. Great service. Food is served expediently for that quick bite. Make sure to order the PB & J (with no crust) for $5000!!! You DO NOT want to miss the uncrustables on the secret menu!

Finally got the chance to have breakfast here and I’m so glad I did! First off, I love waffles and the classic American breakfast and these guys do it right! The eggs were cooked perfectly, the hash browns nice and brown but not overcooked or burnt. The coffee was pipping hot and delicious! Our waitress made sure we always had a full cup! Speaking of our waitress, she was friendly and attentive and our food was on our table super quick. The prices are very affordable.

A perfect diner! Almost a thing of the past. Sat at the bar and watched the staff take great care of the atleast 20 people who were waiting for the 7am opening. Great, quick, friendly service, terrific food and a perfect diner from the past atmosphere. We’ll definately plan a breakfast at this place the next time we travel thru Alamogordo. ✌

Decent breakfast spot in Alamogordo, but I wasn’t as blown away by the waffles as I would have thought in a place that specializes in waffles. Bacon was excellent though, very well cooked and low on fat.

Amazing food and stunning staff! Best foodservice I’ve experienced in New Mexico in the 10 years I’ve been out here. The food is appropriately portioned, fair prices, consistent, served quickly, and of course delicious! They should start a food service academy or something. The staff all work together in a tiny dinner turning tables quickly yet they know all the regulars and acknowledge every customer coming and going. There’s a bit of a wait most days, but always well worth the 15-20 minutes to experience and enjoy this restaurant!
