Parking is pretty easy to find but it’s street parking. The decor of the restaurant is old and not matching but it is very clean. Now the good part. The food is excellent its traditional Mexican food not the cheese and tortilla festival that a lot of Mexican restaurants are. The food came out quickly and was hot. I took a look at the liquor menu, wow, there are at least 20 types of tequilas and mezcal.
Our server was efficient but not particularly friendly.
Overall I have no doubt that I will return to try other great Mexican dishes that are served here.
We ordered the chimichanga, the big papa, authentic street tacos tamales and the ropa vieja sandwich.
The tamales were too dry, they are not like the ones we are used to eating at home. That’s why I gave it a 4 star. The ropa vieja sandwich was a bit too sweet for me. But if you like sweet meats, you’ll enjoy the ropa vieja sandwich.
The restaurant has a margarita for each month. I visited in September. The special was margarita loca for $10. OMG. It was so good. It was made with silver tequila, malibu, curacao, coconut cream with a splash of lime – a margarita that reminded me of Hawaii. So tasty. My brother-in-law had an old fashioned. He loved it, too. The restaurant’s beer, wine, liquor, mezcal, tequila, cocktail, margaritas, and signature cocktail menu is off the charts.
We sat in the most comfortable booth at the front of the restaurant. Within a minute, we were greeted by a friendly waiter with chips and salsa and water for the table. Those chips and salsa were so tasty. We also ordered queso. It was the perfect texture, heated just right. We loved it, too.
There was a weekend special sign as we entered detailing the daily specials.
We were just there for a pre-dinner drink and appetizer. I can’t wait to have a meal at the restaurant given all the positive reviews.
