WOW – what a great dining experience – and some of the best fried chicken ever! This is a MUST-DO when you’re visiting Lynchburg. Make sure to make reservations ahead of time!

Our group of 10 stopped in here for lunch on a Tuesday afternoon and we all thoroughly enjoyed the food, service and overall experience.

We had lunch in the Motlow room, hosted by Kim and we ate til our bellies were full. We were under a bit of a time crunch to make it make to Nashville and hop on a plane, so they happily worked with us to make sure we got the full experience without feeling rushed.

Fried chicken, okra, creamed corn, Lynchburg candies apples, pinto beans, sweet tea and chess pie – oh boy!

Highly recommended!

Amazing experience! Lunch is served around a table with strangers and a host that tells stories of the area. All guests talked with one another, we met people from all over the country.

Lunch was served family style, food was passed around the table. When something ran out more food appeared magically.

Definitely try the fried chicken, the sweet tea, and the fried okra(I believe that’s what it was). Everything was amazing but those were my favorite.

Our host was amazing! They have a cute gift shop. Definitely worth the stop, I recommend booking ahead of time.

This place is a real jewel. If you’re doing the distillery tour, make a reservation to have lunch here. The food is homemade and served family style. You’re given a host who gives you the history of the place while you eat. There’s a real charming southern atmosphere about the place.

If you visit Jack Daniel, I recommend you to make a reservation.

Earn pocket money for seniors or tuition for local college students here

I had the warmest meal here and filled my heart.

I hope you visit here to have various experiences rather than taste the food.

I recommend you to go once in your life.

The program was being held while eating with the people who made a reservation, and it was good because it felt like I was eating with my family.

Step into a slice of history and enjoy a home cooked meal at Miss Mary Bobo’s Boarding House, located in Lynchburg, Tennessee just down the road from the Jack Daniel’s distillery. Great for the whole family or a group. Reservations required and ensures your group has the best experience with your own personal hostess who will share all the great stories about the boarding house and how it became a first rate restaurant. If you get the round table, your food will be served on a giant lazy susan so everyone dips up their on choices and seconds are a must. I had to try a taste of all of it so I didn’t miss any of that down home flavor. Following the meal, there is dessert and coffee if you ask for it. Their Carrot Cake is prize winning and my absolute favorite of all time!
They only serve 2 seatings a day and aren’t open every day so call and make a reservation.

This was our first time at the restaurant. The food was good but we were looking forward to what is listed on the website (fried chicken, meatloaf and pecan pie) and that was not one of the offering for the day. We enjoyed the storytelling of our host at our table but we felt like it became a sales pitch to help support the college students that work there while benefiting from a Ms. Bobo’s scholarship. Our host yelled into the kitchen and forced our waitress to tell her story to us (which we had already heard from the host!) This was a one time experience for us!!

2 sittings each day at lunch. Each table has a Miss Mary’s representative who explains how the meal will be served, and then, while everyone is enjoying their meal, she explains the history and importance of Miss Mary Bobo’s. Food is absolutely delicious and abundant. All served pass around style just as it was in Miss Bobo’s heyday. Fried chicken better than any I have ever had. Genuine banana pudding. Be certain to go when you are hungry!

Wonderful time!! Family style dinner. You have a history who can give the history of the restaurant and Miss Mary Bobo. I love this place. It is our third time and we plan to go again in the future!
