We had a drink or two on a Monday night and watched some football, had some good conversation with the patron sitting next to us and just soaked in the dive bar atmosphere. It was a great night and we would definitely return.

The Green Turtle Tavern is one of those places that just feels like the heartbeat of Fernandina Beach. It’s laid-back, fun, and always welcoming whether you’re a local or just passing through. Cold drinks, live music, and a crowd that feels like family — this is what a neighborhood tavern should be.
But what really makes it shine is the service, especially from Esmeralda behind the bar. She’s got a reputation around town for being one of the friendliest and most skilled bartenders you’ll ever meet. Esmeralda knows every drink you can think of — and probably a few you’ve never even heard of — and she makes it look effortless. Beyond the talent, though, it’s her personality that keeps people coming back. She’s quick with a smile, remembers names, and somehow manages to make everyone feel like a regular.
It’s no surprise that Esmeralda has a local following; she’s part of what makes the Green Turtle so special. Add in the great live music, the relaxed outdoor vibe, and the fact that half the town seems to stop by at some point during the week, and you’ve got one of the best hangouts on Amelia Island.

Came here on a Friday night. Prices are reasonable, $4 for a Coors Light and there were 3 other beers available for $3. There’s limited bar seating, only 2 seats total, which is strange however there is plenty of outdoor seating at picnic tables and such so on a nice night seating isnt an issue. Bathrooms are unisex, there are at least 3, 2 of which are outside. Staff was generally friendly although 1 bartender didn’t like to give customers back their change. Overall, preferred this to Palace Saloon.

The bartender called it a dive bar. Well, after moving back to the area and not seeing it for over 15 years, it sure changed from it’s early days and the laid back/chill vibe.
However, music was good and the crowd was lovely

Good local vibe, quick service, and pleasant prices. The live music is excellent. They also have a functional vintage cigarette machine. We went here after having a bad experience and the decantery.

Fun. Reminded us of our college years attending bars and parties. Loud live music, cheap beer, crowded and happening place. One of the few places open past 11pm in this town. If you’re looking for a good time, you’ve found it. (Please give me a thumbs up if you found this review helpful.)
