Late-night gem for amazing Indian food!
My friend and I stopped by after a late Rutgers class because we were starving, and this place did not disappoint. I ordered the Lamb Shahi Korma with white basmati rice, a mango lassi, and garlic naan. My friend got onion naan and chicken biryani, and everything was absolutely delicious.
Now, let me just say, the spice level here is no joke! We’re both Latina and love a little heat, but even the mild had a good kick. My mild was closer to a medium, and my friend’s medium was definitely on the spicier side. Still, the flavor made it worth every bite.
The restaurant was clean, service was quick, and the prices were very reasonable. And that mango lassi?
Perfectly sweet and refreshing, exactly what we needed to balance the spice. If you’re out late and craving something flavorful, I totally recommend this spot.

The food was excellent, but the service left much to be desired. We had to remind the staff to check on our order, and only after some delay did the food arrive. Even water was served only when specifically requested.
We ordered the Vegetable Manchurian, Paneer Dum Biryani, Chicken Fry Biryani, and Chettinad Chicken Curry (boneless). All the dishes were flavorful, well-prepared, and served in generous portions.
I had also requested a boiled egg with the biryani, which was not provided. When I inquired later, I was told it was unavailable. It would have been appreciated if this had been communicated upfront rather than after the fact.
On a positive note, the restaurant offers a baby high chair and ample parking, which is convenient for families.

Finally found a gem in Jersey City!
After 7 months of staying here, I finally discovered a proper South Indian cuisine restaurant that truly tickled my taste buds after such a long, long time! I’m genuinely happy to have found this place instead of wasting money without satisfaction at the usual Indian street restaurants around Jersey City.
We tried Boti Fry, Chicken Dum Biryani, Mutton Mandi, Paneer Tikka Kebabs, and Schezwan Egg Fried Rice and I must say, every single dish was flavorful and authentic. I’d rate them 4.5/5 overall for both taste and presentation.
To top it off, the total bill was just $140, which is way cheaper compared to most restaurants here and considering both taste and value for money, it was totally worth it!

We arrived at 10:30 PM, and the cashier informed us that dine-in was closed and asked us to place a takeout order. We ordered two mutton biryanis and one chicken dum biryani, and we clearly mentioned that we did not want a family pack but two separate mutton biryanis. However, the server did not listen and still gave us a family pack along with the chicken biryani.
As we were leaving, the server chased us down to ask for a review even before we had tasted the food. When we got home and tried the food, it was awful. There was no dum, no proper masala, and the taste was extremely bland. The mutton tasted like it had been cooked a week ago, and we all ended up with food poisoning.
I strongly do not condone this behavior or the way the food was served. I highly recommend that people visit this restaurant with caution, as many of the reviews appear to be paid for or written after staff pressure customers to leave positive reviews. I will never visit or eat from this restaurant again.

We decided to visit House of Biryanis and Kababs in Piscataway, NJ tonight. According to Google, the place was open until midnight, so we showed up at 11 p.m. sharp. When we walked in, the worker there was just sitting around and told us, “We’re closed. We only do takeout now.” Like seriously? That’s not what Google says.
Since it was late and no other food options were open, we decided to order anyway two goat biryanis and one chicken biryani. Then the guy suggested we take a “goat family biryani” instead, and we clearly told him we wanted SINGLE portions. He said okay, billed us, and everything seemed fine until he brought the order and admitted he gave us the FAMILY goat biryani instead.
What kind of nonsense is that? We didn’t even have the energy to argue, so we just took it. Then he had the nerve to ask us to leave a Google review because he “gave” us the family pack! Like, dude, maybe focus on customer service first. As we were leaving, he actually stopped us again and showed us a QR code to scan and review them right there. At 11 p.m., after all that? Unbelievable, We told the staff member directly that we only write reviews after tasting the food, then left the restaurant.
To top it off, the biryani was awful, nothing close to real biryani. The goat pieces tasted reheated, probably something pulled from the fridge and mixed with rice. Totally disappointing. We’re never going back, and we’re definitely telling our friends and family in NJ to avoid this place.

Ordered goat dum biryani. Fried fish 65. Lamb chops. Decent but the lamb chops are old and were microwaved. Totally unacceptable. I threw them out. It is totally unacceptable to serve that. They tasted old and crunchy like when you microwave a piece of meat.

Yuck! Used to have a decent experience with these folks when we used to go for biryani takeaways.. one time they gave me a horrible dum biryani large tray that no one at a party ate, we threw away most of the tray.
Tonite we ordered special kababs, chicken dum biryani, panneer appetizer and veg fried rice. The veg fried rice was too spicy.. never ever had such hot stuff at Indian or Asian restaurants. The biryani was awful, the panner dish was soggy but bright red colored. But the worst was the “kababs”. There was nothing kabab about it! It was perhaps afternoon’s tandoori chicken rehashing into kababs with bones and all drenched and cooked in a red sauce and onions. You call that kababs?

House of Biriyani and Kababs in Piscataway is a great spot if you love flavorful Indian food. The biriyanis and kababs are packed with spices and taste amazing. They have a big menu with lots of choices, so there’s something for everyone. Just keep in mind, the wait time can be a bit long, especially during busy hours. Also, dine-in service closes at 2:30 PM, so plan ahead if you want to eat there. The staff are friendly, and the portions are generous. If you’re craving bold flavors and hearty meals, this place is definitely worth a visit.
