What a great hole in the wall side of the road joint. This place deserves to be on Diners, Drive Inns, and Dives.

Atmosphere is eclectic and sea worthy, exterior is old style beach which is great. Staff was fantastic and super helpful and friendly.

Devils on Horseback appetizer, shrimp wrapped in bacon stuffed with horseradish was sinful and amazing. The peel and eat shrimp were cooked perfectly and seasoned amazingly.

The main dishes were great. The Captain’s Bounty salad was as if a Cobb salad and seafood salad had a big baby. The croutons were made fresh and were delicious. The seafood gumbo was seafood forward seasoned great and very filling. The coconut shrimp were coated thoroughly and crispy while not overcooking the shrimp. The apple crisp desert was from heaven.

Great spot. Don’t pass this by. We’ll be back!

An excellent beach restaurant with a very interesting gastronomic proposal.
The atmosphere of the place is excellent, with thousands of details that simulate a Hawaiian bar and create a very beautiful atmosphere.
The food is excellent, they have a wide variety of seafood and also some very difficult to find options such as gator or frog legs (in fact this is the only place where I found them in the whole area).
Although they are prepared only fried, the flavor is felt and they are very well seasoned, just enough not to cover the flavor of the meat.
The attention is good, it does not stand out but it is good and it complies with a good service.
Ideal to go with the family

What a huge surprise! We have lived in the Palmetto area for five years and passed The Sea Hut thinking it was just a bar with typical bar food. We were very wrong!

The food was incredible from the fried green tomatoes served in a bed of black beans and corn with balsamic vinegar drizzle. Then the shrimp stuffed with crab cakes just danced on your tongue with flavor. The seafood platter was top notch, particularly the scallops.

The quaint gulf side restaurant was a great find, and Elizabeth, our server was superb with helping first timers navigate the menu.

Only two stars because the staff was amazing.
Cute decor and great location but it was beyond hot inside to where we were both sweating. The freshly chucked oysters were slimy smelled/tasted terribly. There was a huge bug in one dish- see picture- and some how a dry Martini ended up green and tasted like strait sour mix…

Edit:: Thank you for your response, it is awesome to know the owner cares enough♡ The platter that had the bug in it was taken off of of the bill, and I do appreciate that! Just sucks that half of the dish was already eaten by the time it was found.

Unfortunately it was not brought to out attention about the AC being out, which would have absolutely changed my outlook in the situation had I known. I did make it known to our super amazing waitress that this was our first time there and, unfortunately I do not remember her name, but she was amazing and had a great attitude!

Thank you again for your reply.

We found the Sea Hut by accident on our drive home. I love finding secret places and I feel this is one! The restaurant felt like it had been around a while and a little dated inside but I liked it. We sat outside on the dock and got to watch the birds and fish while we ate. My type of Florida living! The fried okra was sooo good, I definitely recommend it. The burger my son got was good, nothing extra about it but it was big. I had the chicken wrap and mac and cheese, it was tasty and flavorful. We had a good time at lunch ❤

We celebrated our 27th anniversary here just after they released restaurants to open from covid-19. Decor was ok with crab traps for lights and a marina feel but the place literally smelled fishy but not in a good way. Service was great so we left a good tip but the food was just bland. No spice not even salt water for the king crab legs at market price ($60 for 2 lbs). I did like the little touch where they have a tea light burner for the butter until it was so hot it started popping grease on me. Overall experience was ok but probably won’t go back.

The Mrs and I came here on Mother’s Day without reservations. We were seated at a high top in the bar to avoid the wait.

Perch for me and the seafood trio for the Mrs. Both of us enjoyed the meal.

Our server was great under the circumstances. The wait was fairly long. Meals came out incomplete and we only had one drink. I watched our server who obviously had too much territory to cover. This is a management issue that really should be addressed quickly.

In fact I was told the manager was not currently on site.

I gave a generous three stars that could easily have been two.

Deep sigh

If you’ve never been or had a history with this place like me, come back! We had an assortment of food and all of it was delicious! Calamari like nothing I’ve ever had. We all agreed! Their banging shrimp is amazing! Unfortunately, we thought, without checking, they closed at 10. A bit rushed. It was 9 but they held out and did us right. The only reason for the 3 on atmosphere was because it was total silence and probably irritated employees. We thanked them and tipped generously. Check it out!

I have driven by this place so many times I can’t remember without stopping in. OK, so it is not that appealing from the street but don’t let that fool you, the food is great. No Asian fusion and all of that other nonsense, just good Florida seafood. All the tried and true basic good dishes you would expect from a good old fashioned Florida restaurant. We had the whole belly fried clams and the Crab Imperial. Both well prepared and delicious and the sides were good as well. Worth the trip to Palmetto if you haven’t been there before. Oh, a special note to Gwen, the lavender hair waitress who was so friendly and made our dining experience so much the better. We will return!

When we entered the place, it smelled like bathroom, very stinky smell. We ordered raw oysters, it was really small and not fresh at all. Not worth the price. Steak was tasteless, no flavor in it at all, and very oily. The corn cheese dip was nasty, like leftover food put together. The only good thing about it was our waitress, she was polite.
