Good Flavors, But Watch the Portions

Entrees:

The crab cake entree was flavorful but arrived slightly burnt on the edges. The accompanying cheese grits were serviceable. The hush puppies were solid

The Fisherman’s Salad featured fresh ingredients that complemented each other nicely. However, the ratio felt off – I would have appreciated more fish and scallops. The salad mix contained mostly iceberg.

Kids’ Menu: The children’s fish portion was disappointing at roughly 1.5 oz of protein – not substantial enough for most kids’ appetites or the menu price.

Desserts: Both the key lime pie and buttermilk pie were clear winners. Everyone at the table enjoyed them, and they’re worth saving room for.

Service: Dining at 6:00 pm on a Tuesday, our food took over 30 minutes to arrive. The staff seemed somewhat frazzled managing a full dining room, which was understandable but affected the overall experience.

Bottom line: The food quality is there, but be aware of portion sizes. Worth visiting for specific dishes.

What a great place to visit. We ate here 3x during our stay in Carrabelle. The Grouper is out of this world good! We also had delicious fried green tomatoes and the fried mushroom. My husband had the snapper. Everything was fantastic and our waitress as very attentive. We will be going again next time we visit.

Happened to stop in town overnight at the marina across the street. The restaurant is on the small side, perhaps 12 tables.

Serving both beer and wine, the restaurant has a varied menu. I had the grilled chicken with a side of hush puppies, my buddy had a double bacon cheese burger with cheese grits. Food was very, very good and the price is reasonable for dining out.

When we arrived out looked decent outside. Stepped in and there was no where to stand or sit got told to move twice as we were in the way. There definitely needs to be some outside waiting area or something built. Waitress was nice, but it was so hot in there I couldn’t focus on anything. From looking around 10 tables or less in the place and if you have a party of 6 you get an automatic gratuity of 15% anymore than 4 is a struggle and table moves either way. The up side the food was fantastic, everything we got was solid and taste great. If I were to do it again I would do a call in order.

Quite a bit ‘pricey’ for the amount of food one gets in a serving. ‘Specials price for the day’ was higher than menu price — not sure if we got extra pieces of seafood to make up for the cost over regular menu prices. Food was okay but not spectacular. Drinks came in a styrofoam cup. Military discount was only given on the veteran’s meal itself and not on the total bill (which in our case would have also consisted of the spouse’s meal).
On the plus side the place was clean and quiet. Greeted & seated promptly with server over to take our order right away. Restaurant only had two other small patron groups.

Was warmly greated. Homemade blue cheese dressing was good. Dinner was served very fast. Before I had a chance to finish my salad. Grilled shrimp was over cooked and chewy. Waitress asked if it was OK as she passed by, I told her and she did not come back to my table. In her defense 4 tables came in all at once. Hostess person brought the check, it was incorrect but she fixed. Took the shrimp to go to chop up for a shrimp salad. Mistakes were made. Would not give Fisherman’s Wife a second try.

Stopped in for lunch on our way down to visit family in St. Pete. The restaurant is rather small and pretty tight quarters when you first come in with not much room to wait for a table without blocking the door. Definitely in need of a facelift. Food was good, I had the blackened grouper basket with cheese grits and hushpuppies. The flavor was very good without it being too spicy. The waitress was nice and cheerful. All in all, it was a good stop.

It was our first visit. The food was tasty, good size portions, very well prepared and our waitress Cheryl was frequently checking to see if we needed anything else. Definitely will be going back when we are in Carabelle. When we were there a group of local fishermen came in with their catch. The kitchen cooked their fish and were serving them before we left.
