Im not the kind of person to leave reviews but im really disappointed in Denise’s, I ordered a cake on Tuesday for today for my daughter 2nd birthday even tho she couldn’t till the difference it’s still the principle if I get charge extra for something my order should be made exactly as I ask. I ask them for a strawberry shortcake with a strawberry filling and yellow cake instead we got a regular white cake with a thin layer of white icing instead… that’s so unacceptable I will not be back!

Absolutely phenomenal work. The cake was not only BEAUTIFULLY DECORATED, but it tasted just as good as it looked -which is rare. The attention to detail was top-tier, the design was exactly what I asked for(honestly even better), and everything was delivered on time and professionally. You can tell Jonathan the decorator takes pride in his craft. Guests were impressed before the first slice was even cut and after tasting it, they were asking where it came from. I highly recommend and will be ordering again.

Beautiful Cake, Great Service from Janaya, but the Rest Fell Short

Pros:
· The Cake: The cake itself looked absolutely beautiful. It was the highlight of the visit.
· Janaya’s Service: Janaya (I hope I’m spelling that right) was the exception to the experience. She was very polite, had a warm and welcoming demeanor, and smiled. She wrapped up the cake with such care and had a very gentle presence. She is a true asset to your team.
Cons:
· Understaffing & Wait: There was a bit of a wait, as there were only two employees working.
· Dismissive Employee: The other employee, who did not have a nametag on, was incredibly off-putting. She never spoke a word, didn’t look my way, and seemed overly dismissive. For a business, especially in this economy, you need to wow every customer.
· Unprofessional Appearance: This same employee looked as if she had just rolled out of bed. While her hair was nice (with grey highlights), it was not groomed, and the overall look was unprofessional.
· Shop Cleanliness: The shop itself did not impress me. The carpet didn’t look like it had been swept, and it was rolled up at the end against the display case, which gave a neglected impression.
Final Thoughts:
I usually buy cakes for my family members’ birthdays from Tiffany’s, but I wanted to support a Black-owned business. I was really hoping to be impressed, but unfortunately, I was not. Basic customer service—like greeting a customer, smiling, and being inviting—matters more than you think. The smallest gestures make a huge difference.
I can’t say that I will return. The experience wasn’t warm or inviting, and when I spend my money, I want to feel welcome. I will be going back to Tiffany’s. A bit of advice for all businesses in 2026: The smallest gestures truly matter.

I don’t even know where to begin this bakery is simply awesome the sweet treats they offer are just off the charts good they’ve been in business for many many years the lines to wait in are sometimes long but when you get that delicious goodness into your mouth it makes it all worth wild I’ve had the doughnuts amazingly good I’ve had the lemon cake again unbelievable but my favorite and I would wait hours and hours for if I had to is the sweet potato pie omg it’s just so good my words just can’t do it justice so you go there if never been and judge for yourself you will not be disappointed..

Today 01/17/26 is the last time I will place an order with this bakery. I placed an order online for a strawberry shortcake on 01/13/26 for my daughters birthday. My order was confirmed full payment made on the same day. My daughter went to pick up the cake this afternoon only to be told they don’t have the ingredients to make a strawberry shortcake. Things happen but communication is important especially when conducting business. Order at your own risk this bakery is unprofessional and a big disappointment.

I just left a few hours ago and I’m gonna say the service is The best service I ever had in a long time it was like 3 to 4 employees in the area that you can see and they were moving at a good pace. It is also very clean and that establishment when I went up to order my cake The young lady by the name of Natrona help me decide in made my experience so easy shout out to her I’ve been to a lot of bakery’s in the city and I must whoever is training the workers they are doing a good job because they all was doing team work just going off my experience best bakery in Philadelphia hands-down .❤️ I’ll leave another review tomorrow to let y’all know how my cake was. I pick it up tomorrow.

You All have to Do better I have been a customer for many many years and all I can say is that customer service and quality has consistently gotten Worse! I had problems from the day that I place my ordered over the phone with Nadjia Listen I understand that things may happen but what you should do is try to figure things out first internally before making 3 calls to your customer with different things 2 days before the event the the cake was needed for. I’m going to call because I’d like to speak to the Owner Iam not satisfied. The strawberries look bad and are discolored, everything is just jammed on the top not uniform and it looks sloppy . We must do better when you want people to patronize your establishment. I don’t even want to put this cake on my table $140 + dollars down the drain Happy 70 th Birthday Mom ♀️ THE FIRST CAKE IS FROM today 10/14/23 red black the second Pic is from 2 years ago black and gold see the difference and I could go back over 10 years and show the cakes I have gotten and how their has been a decline.

I picked up a strawberry shortcake around 12:30pm and when I finally opened the box at 7pm I saw that they only give you two (2) small whole strawberries and strawberry pieces for decoration. One of the strawberries that was on top of my cake was a day or two away from becoming moldy. When I cut into the cake I found out that they don’t put strawberries in between the layers of cake, just pink icing. I gave the cake a try, and realized that they’re cakes are frozen not made fresh daily. The middle of the cake was still cold as if I just took it out of the fridge; after four to five hours of sitting at my desk in room temperature air, and about two hours of sitting in the car with the windows partially rolled down without air-conditioning.

6/3/22 UPDATE: I really hope they can find some new cashiers. The wait is so long. And God forbid someone in front of you has to place an order, you might as well pull up a chair and get comfortable. They needed to discount the sweet potato pies today because they were all burnt! I did buy some of my favorite glazed donuts today, which are always yummy!
UPDATE: everything is still delicious of course. the only issue is they need more cashiers. the wait is too long.
