We called ahead to confirm whether the deck was open to non-guests and were told that it was. Based on that information, we drove 30 minutes to celebrate a birthday with cocktails and lunch (party of four).

Upon arrival, the bartender immediately asked if we were hotel guests. When we said no, she stated that only guests were allowed on the deck. We explained that we had called in advance and were told otherwise. She proceeded to question who we spoke with, which we did not note, and by that point we already felt uncomfortable and unwelcome.

The deck was nearly empty at the time (one occupied table and no one at the bar). We were then told that if we wanted to dine, we could make a reservation and wait an hour.

The entire interaction felt unnecessary and unwelcoming, especially given the conflicting information we received beforehand. If the deck is intended only for hotel guests, that should be clearly communicated when patrons call. Otherwise, this feels like a missed opportunity and a disappointing experience. We walked across the street to Malibu Farms, which was amazing!
