I am not sure what the issue was, but for a Saturday night, they were not very staffed. With that said, they service was limited, at best, but they were all still positive and polite. The food came out staggered, not sure why and the last person at my table ordered a breakfast meal and that cane dead last and she never received her coffee either. I ordered my steak medium well and it came out well done and very dry. I never asked for ranch, nor do I enjoy ranch at all, but it was in a container dripping all over my fries. The dinner food was not great, but the breakfast was pretty darn good. The manager did what he could to make up for this, but it was too late, it left a very bad taste in our mouths. I would like to come back, but honestly cannot validate a reason to. On top of all of that, this restaurant is pretty expensive and there does not seem to have a rhyme or reason as to why certain things cost the way they do.

Overall, a pleasant experience. Food was good, oj excellent, nice atmosphere. As a life-long food service person I have to say that I WAS disappointed in a few things, but none of them deal breakers. The location itself is a little tough to get into, but no marks off for that; difficult to get a good spot in Southern California unless one builds from the ground up out in the boonies!
We were greeted nicely, sat at the counter, and had a server there fairly quickly. Place was clean, well-lit, and had a nice level of background music playing.
Our orders were taken promptly, and food looked great when it arrived. We had no silverware though, so a little awkward to be looking at our appetizing meals, but unable to eat them!
Waited quite a while for a coffee refill too, which is fairly unforgivable since I was sitting at the counter and staff was constantly walking by. (Note to management & servers: don’t ask if I want more coffee, THEN go get the pot… have it ready! )
Meals were excellent… perfectly cooked and presented; coffee and orange juice the right temperatures and really tasty.
Staff at the front desk were great on our way out, so left with a nice feeling.
One last note: the restrooms (clean and well-stocked) have no signage as to being Ladies/Men until one walks around the corner and actually stands in front of the doors… might be a little confusing and/or awkward at busy times!
Great time overall though, especially considering how new this Black Bear Diner is.

We are the First Customers at 6AM Breakfast is real Good I had Fried Steak and eggs and Husband had the Eggs California Benedict with Bacon and Avocado . He enjoyed it dessert was delicious and our server is super friendly and She did a Fantastic job

I’ve visited this location a couple of times, and it has always had a very at-home feel to it. The food looked and tasted equally amazing, and my only regret was not taking a picture before I had already polished off the eggs, fruit, and half of my french toast. The staff is so relaxed and kind and incredibly attentive that it really made the whole experience worth mentioning and looking up other locations for future travels.

Great diner ! Server was handling everything from hosting to being a cashier… poor thing! She was handling everyone with utmost care and attention. Amazing service! Please make sure to tip the waitress well if they do a great job! Not only at this place but everywhere you go. It’s not an easy job!

Black Bear is a Northern California diner staple. The food is not on the inexpensive side, but you go there for the hearty plates that are served there. A standard when it comes to a nice, full breakfast, but they also have lunch and dinner options, too, if you so desire to come during those times of the day.
Be sure you have a big appetite and at least 25-30 dollars minimum on you when you go to eat there.

Came for some early dinner. I ordered the prime rib which we had to wait til 4pm to order. The wifey ordered pancakes breakfast. The pancakes were really good. One of the best ive tried. Nice and fluffy, great taste and the syrup was not overwhelming. Small oj was overpriced. Prime rib was good but not good enough to wait 20 mins. Nice and tender but i dont feel it had that juicy stand out taste. I would not go after 4pm just to try this out. Veggies and mashed potatoes were great. Good service ample space and good atmosphere.

First time coming here and the place was packed! My wife and i decided to sit at the bar and we were quickly greeted by nicole. Nicole is an awesome, full or energy and can brighten up your day type of person. Our food didn’t take long at all to receive and it looked amazing! I got the hobo omelette ( pictured ) and my wife got the vegetarian. The food was delicious, the portions were big and the prices were good. We were very delighted with the place, service and hospitality of this restaurant. We are most definitely coming back for more of this amazing place!

My family and I really enjoy eating at this location. The decor gives off Big Bear vibes. If you get a chance, read the cute phrases on the bar chairs. The breakfast sweet cream pancakes are delicious and something my Daughter loves. I usually always order a burger with a side salad. I’m a big fan of their bacon ranch dressing. The biscuits are great and it’s always hard to resist getting a small pie at check out. This restaurant is pretty pricey and the service is spotty. Sometimes there is a wait for someone to seat you even though there are a ton of empty tables. I think it’s just an issue with not enough staff.
