Right down on West 7th, just a short walk from where the Minnesota Wild play, we stopped into The Parlour for brunch with one mission: smash burgers.
I almost caved and went French toast. Didn’t. Stayed disciplined.
They told me, “Go to The Parlour for the smash burger.”
Whoever “they” are… they were right.
The smash burger is a brisket and ribeye blend, and you can taste it. Rich, beefy, cooked right. My wife and I both went simple — cheese only, no bacon, no extras — and it absolutely delivered. No gimmicks needed.
The fries? Smacking. Crispy, seasoned just right.
And don’t sleep on the Swiss aioli. That stuff is dangerous.
Brunch smash burger over French toast?
No regrets. Not one.
If you’re near the Xcel area and want a burger that actually lives up to the hype, this is your spot.

Really a disappointment. The staff was nice but the service was sooo slow. We arrived early (4:50pm) and it was not busy but yet we were waiting for drink refills. Popcorn – great flavor – lacked freshness. Burger- way over salted and no pepper – bun and patty were so dry! We removed the stale bun and dipped the burger in BBQ sauce. The chicken sandwich lacked flavor – the aioli was delish but not enough to cover the entire sandwich. Has potential but needed execution – would not return.

I don’t usually take the time to go out of my way to write reviews for a restaurant, but Parlour St. Paul was that phenomenal. I really enjoyed everything about the visit: the food, the waitstaff, the atmosphere, (it didn’t help that some of my favorite 90’s alternative rock deep cuts were playing the whole time).
The wait staff was phenomenal. We told our waitress (whose name I unfortunately forget) that it was our first time visiting them. We each got the burger and split an order of fries ($8.95 for a side of fries was the toughest pill to swallow, but it’s definitely enough for a party of 2 to share), but our waitress comped $7 worth of their aiolis for us to share with our order of fries to ensure we had a good first experience.
The old fashioned was delicious, the burger was delicious, the fries and aioli were delicious. Truly one of the best and more memorable experiences I’ve had dining in the Twin Cities in the nearly 10 years I’ve lived here. If you haven’t gone to Parlour to try their signature burger yet, this is truly a sign you should.

What a wonderful dining experience. If there’s only two of you, consider being seated at the high-top tables over looking the wonderful chefs.
Food was delicious; the chefs work as a well oiled machine.
The drink menu was fun & the pickles are insanely AWESOME! We even got ‘road pickles’ to take with us after dinner. .

Great vibes inside. Staff were friendly and engaging. We sat at the main bar. Comfy chairs and lots of space. Whipped goat cheese is delicious. Mac and cheese is to die for. The deviled eggs were very good, got eaten before I could snap a photo. Would love to go back and sit at the kitchen bar and watch the magic happen.

Looking for a mighty burger? Oh heck yeah! One of the best burgers in town. Read about them in my favorite Pioneer Press Eat section column, but choose them mostly at Timberwolves games at the Target Center. It’s so good that I brought my family here for a Christmas present! We followed up with a double date, as well. I’m hooked! See you next weekend.

We visit often, and I’ve never left a review. The bar is cozy. The team is awesome. Love the cocktails. There is always a surprise! The other night they were out of the brisket sandwich and Will recommended the Chicken Fried Steak—bomb. That damn banana bread! Mmm and had some secret snickerdoodle cookie the other day.
Two other things. If you’re visiting because, “you heard about the burger,” you are looking for the Parlour burger. Sorry, those others don’t stand a chance. Happy Hour? Chicken bites! Thanks team.

My friends and I ate here tonight. We were at a conference in the St. Paul area. Our experience was AMAZING! Our Gemma was one of the best servers I have had in years (which is a lost art). You could tell she LOVED her job. She knew the menu, she could patiently engage our questions, she was not pushy, she could walk us through the journey of their restaurant. My friends and I left raving about two things: (1) our server, Gemma, and (2) the burger she recommended (the way she recommended it).

Had New Years Eve dinner here with a friend. Thoroughly enjoyed my meal even though we had to sit at the bar. Their system messed up several reservations. The bartender was friendly and attentive, made a great cocktail. The place is beautiful and it’s not too loud. Strongly recommend.

We had a fantastic experience last night at Parlour. The parlour burger + egg was terrific in all respects – highly recommend! Drinks were super great and nice variety available, high quality mixology. Service from Maccela (spelling?) was on point and made things work for our large group. Very accommodating when we last minute changed from a group of 7 to a group of 14. I would def go back!
