Three stars seems right in the middle for a very middle of the road restaurant. First let me say the place was clean. I visited the bathrooms and they were nice, no complaints. The restaurant floors were free from food scraps and the table had no crumbs or stains. I got there about 11:45 for lunch and was immediately seated. The server took my drink order and by the time I returned from the restroom my water was on the table along with napkins and silverware. He was attentive to my needs and checked on me often during the meal. Now, to the food. It was just lukewarm and unusually bland. I tried several of the chicken dishes and there was just not much difference between any of them. No spice, no pop, no wow … nothing. The shrimp looked good but the batter had the same nothing flavor of everything else. Even the dessert was lacking. I have never had pumpkin pie that didn’t have just a little cinnamon kick, but not this one. The vanilla ice cream was broken and the chocolate had more of an ice milk texture rather than a rich creamy mouth feel. I left full for under $15 including tax but probably won’t be back.

The food here is always delicious I’ve been coming here for years generally once every week or every other week. The staff is always friendly and the place is always clean. The food is always fresh no matter the time because it’s always busy. I recommend checking it out when you’re in Roanoke.

We dined here on Christmas night 2023 for the first time, and were blown away by the quality and freshness of all items.
Our party of four waited about 15 minutes to be seated on a VERY busy evening, and felt that wait was appropriate.
Once seated, our waiter took our drink orders and we were free to visit the stations. Everything was hot and fresh with new items being added or refreshed regularly. Some standout items included the dumplings, chicken on skewers, tempura sweet potato, and all of the seafood dishes.
We look forward to dining here again during our travels.

There are two locations. This one and one at Tanglewood. Tanglewood is atrocious and should be avoided at all cost. Really. This one is great. The vibe is good. The staff are friendly and helpful. The food is standard Buffet stuff but kept fresh and taste great. Dont go close to closing because it will not be fresh. Sorry. I always eat way fatter than I should here.

I used to go to Red Palace often, but haven’t been much since the COVID pandemic. We went with friends recently and while the food tasted OK, it didn’t set well later. I felt awful for nearly 36 hours after eating. The service was great – they kept our waters filled and checked on us regularly. They do seem to make a huge effort to keeping the buffet stocked and looking nice. The big issue for me was how crowded it was and how chaotic it felt … people didn’t seem to have a clue how to go down the lines and people were bumping into each other, jumping in front of others in the line, etc. It was just too busy for me. Granted, I was there at “rush hour” on a Saturday.

The best food option around the area. I usually hesitate when I see an all you can eat Chinese buffet. This was nearest to the hotel I was staying at and seemed to have the best reviews. The parking lot was packed which was a good sign. Most of the food was steaming hot and tasted great. There is a menu you could also order from but I don’t see why you’d limit yourself with plenty of great other options. $15 a person for dinner is a steal and make sure you leave room for dessert.
