First time trying Happy Dog and I was pleasantly impressed. The best hotdogs and hamburgers in town is a bold statement, but at Happy Dog they come pretty close to that. The owner and his staff are top notch and I love the owners sense of humor. He is also very confident at what he does and has been a staple in West Chicago for a couple of decades now. They have a great menu selection and a lot of regular customers that enjoy coming here. I live near by so I’ll definitely be coming back to try other items on the menu. Great job Happy Dog!!

Me and my husband drove by this place the other day and we just knew we had to come back and try and we are so glad we did. Great dogs, flavorful and quality ingredients. The portions are fantastic. We both got the 2 dog combo and we were FULL. They are very generous with their fries and toppings. Very friendly owner and staff. We will definitely be coming back! What a gem of a small business!

The food here is amazing and is actually not that expensive for how much you get which is saying something when compared with how expensive it is getting nowadays. 100% worth it for food alone and I’ll definitely be back. Carlos inside is very friendly and I can tell he enjoys what he is doing inside. I grew up in Logan square and going here really makes me feel like I’m back when I was a kid. It’s really hard to explain it but it’s very nostalgic. If you’re in town then don’t pass this place up

Happy Dog is my happy place. I’ve been going since it was Happy House and I think Leon and his family are absolutely doing it justice. They’re always so kind, they remember you when you visit, and the food is never less than 5 stars.

I have passed by this little hot dog stand many times over the years, I love trying new place especially small mom and pop restaurants like this. Today I finally had the opportunity to stop in and try one of their hot dogs. My first impression upon driving into the parking lot was a good one, The parking lot was clean, the building is in great shape, I love the colors and how the restaurant itself looks like a throw back to the old Chicago hot dog stands on my youth, ( 60′ and 70’s ) I was greeted with a friendly hello from the two men working behind the counter. the place smelled great, it was also very clean and organized, I had the Chicago style hot dog and fires. The hot dog came with mustard, onions, tomatoes, relish, sport peppers and pickle, all on a poppy seed bun. The first bite was heavenly, the hot dog itself had a great snap, then filled my mouth with all the wonderful flavors, OUTSTANDING, The French fries were fresh and homemade, Over all this was a solid 10, I had the hot dog, fries and coke the total was 12.56, a competitive and fair price. If you are out and pass by this little gem, stop in and have one Chicago dog, I plan on stopping in and trying some of their other items.

Old school Chicago hot dog stand, can probably count on your fingers of how many are left in the Chicago area…pretty much a to-go place but there are 4 seats inside. GREAT customer service! Vienna beef dawgs and fries like ole Demon Dogs in Lincoln Park.

UPDATED March 10,2023 A hidden gem in West Chicago. Carlos & Rick are friendly, serve fresh hot good food! I’ve had hot dogs with fries here many times and they are a favorite. Today I had the cheeseburger for the 1st time. Excellent and fresh meat, double patties!, fresh condiments and the bun holds up which is a deal maker for me 🙂 Prices are reasonable. Option #1 feeds 2 people, each getting a hot dog with fries. Just go and try their food. When the weather is warmer, the picnic tables are a nice touch.
I pass this place a few times a month and I finally stopped and I am glad I did. Cute from the inside and busy inside with a counter to order and pay then you step outside choose a picnic table or wait near your car they call your name on a loudspeaker and you go in and get your order All in all the wait was about 5 minutes, pretty steady customer flow too. A # 1 consists of two Vienna Chicago beef hot dogs with the works and french fries and one soda. Two of us ordered this and we were pleasantly surprised that the hot dogs were individually wrapped each with fries. So it was very easy to split between my husband and I. He ordered the barqs root beer and it was delicious some places just don’t have the fountains right but this place does!! The menu has burgers different wraps salads even gyros. We will definitely be back; a nice easy place to stop in get quick service and good food. I might add their hot dog is not nearly as skinny as some of the bigger chains which has been very disappointing. I love that I found this little place nearby and can’t wait to go back. Definitely give it a try 🙂
