It really wish I could leave a better review, but our experience here was awful. My husband ended up with food poisoning just hours after we ate here. He had severe stomach cramps, nausea, and was sick all night. We’re absolutely certain it was from this restaurant, as it was the only meal we shared that day.
On top of that, the food didn’t even taste fresh. My husband’s dish had an odd smell and flavor, but we didn’t think much of it at the time. Clearly, we should have trusted our instincts.
When we called to let them know what happened, the staff seemed dismissive and didn’t take any responsibility. No apology, no concern — just indifference.
Food safety should be a top priority for any restaurant. We will definitely not be returning, and I strongly suggest others think twice before dining here.

My husband & I visit Butchers Tap somewhat frequently because we live nearby & they always seem to have an open seat for us. In the past I have also booked them for a private event & it was perfect. I cannot recommend renting out their upstairs space for a private party enough. The staff was great & the food what just what our event needed. It was also such an affordable option for our event. Loved it.

Ordered 2 bloody mary’s, each with an extra shot. The menu in front of us said $8 for a bloody. Fast forward to the bill and each bloody came out to $21/piece. Asked waitress to clarify, she said that she forgot to tell us that the prices on the menu are wrong. No offer to make it right. Place is a joke! I would (and will) go to literally any of the numerous other options right in this area.

Definitely not a place to sit and drink early on (before the crowd/happy hour, whatever). Likely not after that either, but I’ll never know.
Upon closing my tab because of a shift change, I was charged extra for something I didn’t drink; and here… I thought it was I that was doing the drinking.
Either way: it’s what you can expect from a place like this. An unkept bar with its almost painful smell of simultaneously spilled beer and vomit after you’ve crossed its threshold inward.
Lucky for the house I don’t mind the two when I mostly just wanted to get something done, required a drink and was tired of walking.
I should have tipped less, but I know it’s hard in this economy; but also, learn to DO better bc the next person might not be so forgiving.

When my wife and I lived in Chicago, we would come here every buckeye game and trivia night. We unfortunately moved out of state but that didn’t stop us. Every year we travel from all over the country to see the OSU v ❌ichigan game. It’s always a fantastic time full of buckeyes. This year, traveling from Texas, we came to see our buckeyes at our favorite bar. We arrived early but were surprised that it wasn’t as busy as usual. We were greeted at the door asking if we have tickets. (We still receive newsletters and marketing emails but didn’t see anything about tickets). There is plenty of standing room but we were told to kick rocks because we don’t have tickets (no waitlist? Too late to buy tickets?). We travelled from Texas to be here, at our favorite bar. This year unfortunately ends the tradition and we won’t be back.

The food here is really kind of the star of the shelf for somebody that’s not in Ohio buckeye fan anyway… The southern fried chicken sandwich ( not original) is definitely top five in the city hop for the spicy mayo on the side. The cheese curds are absolutely top two in the city. The chicken tenders looked amazing I would say probably definitely top five in the city… This is some pretty high numbers for a bar with a ton of taps good selections of beer and actually pretty comfortable atmosphere. Will definitely be back. The service was great too, I have to say just not all around top 10 bar in Chicago

Stopped by The Butcher’s Tap on Southport after a Cubs game, hoping for a solid spot to unwind. Dropped around $45 on a Southern fried chicken sandwich and a couple of local drafts. The sandwich was just okay—crispy but kinda dry—and the beer selection, while extensive, didn’t have anything that stood out. The place was packed, and we had to wait a while for a table, which was frustrating since they don’t take reservations. Service was slow, and our server seemed overwhelmed, making the experience less enjoyable. Overall, it was an okay experience, but I expected more given the hype.

It would have been a 5 but the tables were all wobbly, too bad. Management needs to care for the entire experience and they failed.

I met 5 friends here a few weeks ago to watch football. It was my first visit, but they had all been here before and frequently go to Clover. All was going well until I had my second drink and began to feel very ill. I found something floating at the bottom of the drink and realized it was a zyn. It had been dropped in before serving to me. I do believe that this was accidental. I alerted our server, who was very kind and apologetic. She assured me that she would address it with the rest of the staff and make it right. When she came back to our table, she let me know that the manager removed the contaminated drink from the bill and comped a spinach dip that the group ate before I arrived. It seemed very insufficient for the situation at hand. The server did what she could, but management should have taken this much more seriously, they didn’t even visit the table. I don’t consume nicotine, and this incident made me ill for over 24 hours. I will not be back.

My partner and I stopped in for a shot of Malört. We were given singles but charged for doubles. Outrageous! $40 for two shots of Malört, in Chicago, is an absolute travesty. Will certainly not be coming back to this establishment. The fact that the bartender felt comfortable fleecing us like that is insulting.
