First time at Cortez Taqueria. Very Hispanic throughout. We came after church and it was super busy. The parking lot was so full, but we only had to wait around ~15 minutes for a table. We got the menudo with hominy and pigs feet. Servered in authentic Mexican pottery! So tasty! We also ordered a birria tostada. Again, so tasty. Ordered a standard margarita which tasted very good. I’d go back to this establishment.

We came on a Sunday around 1 PM. Parking is free, but the lot was very full.

We were told the wait would be 30 minutes. We were sat in less than 20 minutes.

I had flautas and birra tacos with consume. My daughter had simple meat and cheese tacos. We also had the homemade corn tortillas. Everything was delicious.

Service was speedy, friendly, and offered great suggestions.

I look forward to returning.

Today’s feature is Birrieria y Taqueria Cortez, just a short drive from Arlington, located at 2108 E Rosedale St, Fort Worth, TX 76105
Home of all things birria! Tacos, pizza, quesadillas & more. This restaurant was recommended to me by several of you!
I had the birriaquesa tacos, and a keto birria taco while my husband enjoyed his birria sliders. Everything was so delicious! Next time, I want to try the birria changas or the flautas!

Best birria around! It is all they do and they do it really well. We drive from downtown Dallas for it. The quesabirria tacos are the best item. I pass on the beans and rice and order 3 quesabirria tacos and an horchata. I’ve had the regular and cheese shell version and the regular shell is better and easier to eat. I’ve had just the birria tacos, but I love cheese, so I like the quesabirria much more. The birria pizza is good. It has a ton of meat and cheese, but it is definitely to be shared by a few people. The birria changas are also really good.
If you like Micheladas, theirs are good.

Drive 40 minutes to get in on all the hype! Walked right in and sat at bar. Service was prompt for drink and food order.
1 Modelo, small menudo, 1 birria taco, dozen queso tamales. = $54

So there was a mix up supposedly, and my menudo was just broth and tripe, no hominy, no meat.
Staff assured me they take care of that later (never happened) paid full price for half my order.
Birria taco comes out 15 minutes later, consume of course not.
Cool just a mix up right.? Well I was charged as if there wasn’t a mix up and my order was right.
Ordered a dozen queso tamales to go.
And in my initial review of the food I said I’d try the tamales later and add review; later has come. Well out of the dozen queso tamales 5 had cheese. As you can see in the picture a sliver of meat to masa ratio.

There are hundreds of taquerias and food trucks in Fort Worth and for 50+ dollars you’d expect to taste the hype, it was mediocre at best.

We visited Birrieria y Taquería Cortez after seeing it listed in the 2025 Michelin Guide. My review is based on three areas:
Service:
Our server was very attentive, greeted us promptly, and offered helpful suggestions from the menu.
Food:
The menu is fairly limited. I expected more traditional options like table-side guacamole, good salsa with chips, or elote in a cup. We ordered the Quesabirria taco plate and the flautas. The meat had good flavor but was a bit dry, and definitely benefited from the birria broth or house salsa for added moisture and taste. The guacamole was literally just mashed avocado—nothing added. The rice was bland, and the beans were basic—no charro beans or “frijol de olla.” We also ordered two frozen mango margaritas. They were fine, but nothing special or particularly strong.
Ambiance:
It’s a family restaurant and was understandably busy on a Saturday at 4:30 pm. There’s indoor seating and a back patio—I regret not choosing the patio. The music inside was extremely loud, making it hard to have a conversation without raising your voice. It gives the place more of a fast-food pace, as it’s hard to enjoy a long meal with music at that volume.
Overall:
I’d rate this restaurant 6.5 out of 10. I might consider returning, but it’s not at the top of my list.

Really cute place, definitely try to sit outside if spaces are available as the ambiance of the river adds so much! We were greeted warmly as we entered and thoroughly enjoyed the service we received. My favorite star of the show was probably the horchata, which was also really large, you could lowkey split it if you wanted to! I was not the biggest fan of the queso-tacos, I felt like they needed a little more cheese. They were good, but I have had better.

First time coming to this establishment and was highly satisfied food was delicious, friendly staff and I loved all the murials of great talent decorating the inside of the restaurant. It was clean and very nice. I had the birria pizza that has been all the rage on Tiktok and I’m so glad I did . It was delicious. A must know, this restaurant is closed Mondays and Tuesdays.

Great! Everything had a ton of flavor. Presented for all to share. 3 different hot sauce. Everything a’la carte. No plates. Good thing the food was delicious the price was crazy. We wanted to try a variety so we ordered the sampler, tacos, and rice/beans. Along with alcohol. $85 and we were only 2. Got the rest to take home and fed 2 more ppl. No complaints at all just a little sticker shock.

Great place if you are craving Birria tacos almost as good as the ones you get in Jalisco

The consomé is another level. You can bring leftovers home and throw in some noodles

The salsa verde is the best thing going for this place you can almost drink it
