My wife and I have been to Ramen Bar in Squirrel Hill several times now, and it’s become one of our absolute favorites. The first time we visited, we were looking for a good ramen place for takeout—we had only ever made ramen at home and wanted to see what truly great ramen tasted like. This was our first ramen restaurant experience, and needless to say, we were not disappointed!
Our order was ready promptly and perfectly packaged for takeout, which is absolutely critical when transporting hot ramen. Everything was secure, and the quality held up beautifully by the time we got it home.
While I can’t recall every ramen we’ve tried from that first visit, I’ll never forget the Tan Tan Men Ramen—it’s the reason we keep coming back! We’ve since tried Tan Tan Ramen at other ramen and sushi restaurants to compare, and none have matched the flavor, texture, or balance that Ramen Bar achieves. The broth is rich and flavorful, with just the right amount of heat. It’s easily one of our favorite “cold day comfort foods,” though we’ll happily eat it any time of year!
The restaurant itself is small and minimalist, as is typical for the area, but that’s more than forgivable given how excellent the food is. Honestly, I’d sit just about anywhere to enjoy what they serve here.
If you love ramen—or even if you’re trying it for the first time—Ramen Bar is absolutely worth it.

The shrimp Gyoza was wonderful. The takoyaki was so so…The Shoyu Ramen was utterly disappointing. The chashu pork was very underwhelming. Don’t expect normal Jammy eggs here either, They are literally hard boiled. I was really looking forward to this meal…I haven’t had good ramen in about a year. The wait staff were lovely and the resteraunt was clean of not a bit dark inside.

I had the weirdest “curry chicken over rice”. It came with a bowl curry soup and a bowl of rice. And luckily I found 8 small cubes of chicken in that soup bowl! The shoyu ramen ramen is also very so so, not very bad but not tasty either. Decoration is dated. Positive’s are good location and average service. There are so many great ramen places that this one, I can barely think of a reason to go again.

I really don’t like to bash restaurants, but we found multiple tiny insects in the vegetable soup. It was absolutely disgusting. I noticed other reviewers have found insects in their food, too. I know it’s hard out here to run a business, but this isn’t cool. I really hope management sees this and remedies the problem.

Had the Kimchi tofu, white rice and hot green tea. Was affordable and very delicious! Employees were very kind and attentive even though it was quite busy. The bar and bathrooms were clean and stocked. Will definitely come back to kill any Kim chi cravings.

Amazing! We loved it so much. Great quality. Very friendly and helpful staff. My sister has celiac and has to be gluten free and they were extremely accommodating and helpful about it. It is very rare unfortunately that she gets that from other restaurants. The food was to die for! I would definitely drive the hour away to go again soon. They also package and bag your leftovers for you! That is awesome! Pricing was very manageable for the quality and quantity.

We had lunch at Ramen bar and it was amazing. it was our first time in squirrel Hill in Pittsburgh and we stumbled across this place and are glad we did. The restaurant was clean. The waitress was nice and extremely helpful while helping us order. We had a dumpling appetizer which was delicious and three different bowls of Ramen. Everything was absolutely fantastic. We will definitely come back and can’t wait to try something different next time! if you’re looking for a wonderful place to have lunch with delicious food and huge serving sizes look no further than Ramen bar, I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised like we were!

Food is amazing always has been. I used to come here regularly but after my experience with one of your wait staff I’m actually kind of nervous to ever eat there again. I was bullied out of the last $5 that I had in cash because the waitress wouldnt listen to my friend and I that we were doing a large tip on my friends order as I was only paying for our appetizer. We had planned on using my money for the app and split the bill so my friend was charged for our drinks and meals. When paying for my half tho the waitress became irate INSISTING that I pay more and owe her a tip. Trying to explain that we were going to do a large tip on my friends half of the bill as we normally do since we’ve only ever had good experiences there up until this point. It didn’t matter she talked over us demanding that I give her more money and that she saw I had more money. We were cornered in the window tables. I gave her the money just so she would stop and let us leave. Seeing now that I’m not the only one who has experienced this is concerning. This issue should be addressed as I will be sure to warn people about dining her from now on. Great food but not worth being cornered and held up for your money.

Just don’t order fried rice in this restaurant. They cut a shrimp to 5 small, tiny pieces! Along with a few tiny pieces of pork! Unbelievable!

The seating is a little tight, I wish they would expand. Their food on the other hand to delicious, out of all the ramen places I have tried in Pittsburgh, this one is my favorite, even their appetizers are very good. The service is usually very good, this last time I went the waitress was a little rude, but ill give her the benefit of the doubt because it was very busy and she was probably frustrated.
