I enjoy a meal at Mel’s quite often. Great place to meet friends for a cup of coffee and a warm pecan pie. The food is delicious. They even have a delicious chicken and sausage gumbo. The employees have been there for some time. They are all very friendly. Great service. The staff is like family. Service is quick. However sundays are very popular so you may have to wait for a seat but its so worth the wait. ☺️

We dined here late at night on 05/15/2025 after a high school graduation. I love the fact that this restaurant is open 24/7 so you can go in to get a home cooked meal anytime you want or need. The environment was great. The waitress was very attentive and sweet. We were a big group, but the staff accommodated us with no issues. The food was overall good. I enjoyed the meatloaf and my cheesy fries were delicious!

Nice diner feel with very polite staff. Short-order cook even hollered out “scramble w/bacon, order up” or “hamburger steak, order up”. Our food was brought out fast even though it’s not a pre-cooked hamburger; it’s made to order. Our waitress was friendly and professional and I wish we could remember her name to give her a shout out in this review.
ALWAYS tip your waiter or waitress well when they serve you well, no matter the food experience because it’s not their fault.
All that being said, Mel’s Diner is definitely a nice place to swing by and grab a bite to eat when you’re hungry! Seriously, anytime since they’re open 24 hours. Breakfast is also available anytime you want it.

I got the Country Boy Special for lunch. You can choose either steak or country fried steak. I love the biscuit! It wasn’t hard or crumbly. Super soft and light. Very enjoyable. The food is great for the prices!

Nice atmosphere, cute place , great service, and one of the best grilled chicken sandwiches I found so far in Lafayette. We have had better burgers in Lafayette, but the chicken was top tier. I’m going to have to go back with my girls for one of our brunches. I can’t believe I have lived in this area my whole life and never ate here. I was missing out.
