We did take out tonight. The service is very fast and prompt. The staff is nice and pleasant. We got chicken wings and pork fried rice and egg rolls. The chicken is good and I appreciate that they are wingettes. The egg rolls were a good size! The rice fell short for me I’m not a fan of peas and carrots in my rice. But overall it’s pretty good food

I have been a customer of Peony Asian Bistro for nearly 20 years. Over that time, I’ve seen the restaurant change hands through multiple owners and management teams. We loved it so much that we even held our small wedding rehearsal dinner there in 2019. It truly was a special place for us.
Unfortunately, over the past several years, we’ve watched it gradually decline. We went from being weekly regulars to only stopping in occasionally, hoping each time that things would turn around.
During COVID, we ordered takeout frequently. The plastic divider and no-contact setup were completely understandable at the time. When indoor dining reopened, we returned, trying to be supportive. However, there was no heat (only a space heater pointed down the aisle), the tables were permanently sticky, and the strong odor of the cleaning solution was overwhelming. We told ourselves it was just growing pains under difficult circumstances.
But time has passed. Businesses have been fully open for years now, yet the same aging plastic divider remains—broken and falling apart. The tables in front of the counter are still there. It has now been about a year since my last visit.
Today, while nearby, I decided to order takeout—something I used to do weekly. I ordered my usual: two rolls and a Kani salad. When I arrived, I was honestly shocked. One of the front doors was boarded up with black duct tape. The faded window signs were still there, now partially covered with the same tape blocking out the long-standing “2 for 1 sushi rolls” promotion. I hesitated before even going inside, questioning whether I should pick up my order at all.
Walking in was heartbreaking. The restaurant I once loved felt so far gone. The same plastic divider stood in worse condition. The tables in front were cluttered and dirty. The B sanitation rating was slipping out of a broken frame on the wall. I actually called my husband because I was so disappointed. I found myself wondering whether I should even eat the food I had just purchased.
I decided to try. Unfortunately, it only added to my concern. The chopsticks were such poor quality that I got three splinters trying to use them. The Crunchy Shrimp Roll was gummy and unpleasant in flavor. The Kani salad, once bright and fresh, looked tired and overworked and didn’t taste right. The Cream Cheese Shrimp Roll was just okay at best—the only item I was able to finish.
After eating, I felt a bit queasy. I sincerely hope it’s psychological and not the result of the food itself.
It truly saddens me to write this. This restaurant holds meaningful memories for my family. I kept hoping it would return to what it once was, but sadly, it seems too far gone.

Be VERY careful when ordering rice. Pork fried rice is the only free version of fried rice (not even veggie, which pork has anyways) and the pork fried rice is MISERABLE. Straight up turns me away from ever returning here. The sesame chicken has also fallen in quality since I ate here long ago.

I honestly judge an Asian restaurant on its hot and sour soup. I am delighted to discover that Peony Asian Bistro’s hot and sour soup may be the best I’ve EVER had–and that is saying something! It was just the right level of sour and spicy, and the fresh mushrooms floating on top were absolutely delicious. In addition, the consistency of the broth was perfect. Far too many restaurants make it so that the soup is more like gelatin than liquid–ugh. The portion sizes for lunch were very generous, and while the beef and broccoli I ordered was not as flavorful as the soup, it was still pretty good. Finally, the staff were very welcoming and helpful. When I realized I had left my wallet at home, they offered Apple Pay and I was able to have a truly delicious lunch. I am a very happy customer and will definitely visit often!

The only thing warm in the restaurant is the food! The restaurant was extremely cold(no one wants to have to eat dinner in a coat), the waitress was not friendly, no music playing, nothing. It was the epitome of eat and leave! The waitress said the wings were marinated, but I guess not long enough. They did not have much flavor. Our entrees were ok, and we had to pay 1.50 extra for fried rice. It was cool, but probably wouldn’t return.

Peony had been the go-to spot for a while and the food is great for take out and normally on-point with their service. However, something is wrong with their system because the last few times as it seems to be “losing my online order” meaning I have to wait an extra 20 minutes. Nothing major would just recommend they upgrade their ordering service to minimize these minor, but recently consistent inconveniences. Would recommend calling to place order.

Outstanding food quality! I highly recommend the rainbow sushi for an appetizer. For the entree, I selected the shrimp with walnuts covered in white, creamy, sweet sauce with broccoli on the side. Very good indeed!
