Good food with a good view. What can I say… If you haven’t been to Cap’n Jasper’s you have seriously not had a massive burger.
I had the Japerized, at least that’s what I think it was called.
It was huge, and it tasted brilliant. The staff and service was equally great. .

Pure burger goodness. No time wasted on being fancy

You want some posh ambience, 2cm meat burgers and fine dining? Go to McDonald’s.

Burgers big and meaty enough to keep you full for an entire day at a real good price.

Have some of their tea while waiting for the burgers though. That amount of meat takes a few minutes to cook well

I’ve been coming here whenever I’m in Plymouth since 2021 and only had my first Jasperiser last weekend. The sauces are still present and the chipotle is great. The sheer size of the burger allows you to select the appropriate layers in which to add sauce and gherkins.

It’s such a monster burger it worked my biceps! I’ve been disappointed by so many trendy burger places in recent times, but Jaspers knows what the people want and delivers it beautifully. Long live Cap’n Jaspers.

Can’t tell you how delicious the chicken burger I bought was,
You can see what I added on top too.
Great service and fully recommended the chicken here.

One of the most authentic places in Plymouth. Very friendly service, great atmosphere and amazing food for pretty low prices compared to anything else in the harbor – a big recommendation!

Great location but I feel a slightly missed opportunity.
You know when something is “legendary” just because? Well this is one of those places. It’s reasonably cheap & cheerful food but the actual beef patty’s themselves would benefit from being better quality. They’re like the ones you get of questionable ingredients from a lay-by burger-van. Now I know this place is well loved by locals but with the burger market exploding in recent years I really do think they could do better.
The service was good enough, slightly long wait but acceptable even though not many customers waiting, I could see the cook was busy so fair enough.

A popular haunt with locals, bikers, cyclist and tourists alike and with good cause. The food is generous, not over priced and while simple in their offerings it’s good grub cooked fresh and always done so with a smile from the staff.

It’s not accessible by car though and there will be some cobbles to navigate to get here, noteably for those with babies and wheel chairs but it’s still accessible.

Went for a ride and ended up on the hoe at Cap’n Jaspers. Not been for a few years due to moving away, so thought a visit was a must. My wife is gluten free and so asked if there was anything she could have as gluten free, ‘Sorry No’. Is it possible to have a sandwich without the bread, as in bacon, lettuce onions etc…. Sorry No, we don’t have cutlery either’. Hmmm, so while I had ordered a sausage sandwich, my wife went without anything to eat and no suggestion or help from the server, what a shame. So if you are someone who has to have gluten free (dare not mention celiac) then this is not the place for you. Also, if you use cutlery in any shape or form, then again, either take your own or go somewhere else. I noticed the place did not seem as clean as previously experienced either. The sandwich, was ok and the coffee/tea was adequate.

This is Plymouth and the Barbican to me. Been coming here every possible trip to the area for 35 years now. I remember when there was a branch inside the student union at the uni! The vibe is great, the location by the water is stunning and the food is great. Watch your food being cooked and salivate as you see what you think is your order going to someone a few ahead of you in the always orderly waiting throng of customers. My favourite is a cheese and chilli burger. Others love the half a yard of sausage. A must do when in Plymouth!

Every time I’m taking a walk to the Barbican, I always take a stop at Cap’n Jaspers for a small bite. For me the burgers here gives a street burger shack vibe and may be that’s what attracts me most of the time. The burgers are tasty and portions are big. It’s good value for money although it is not the most hygienic or the best burger place in Plymouth, but if you are craving something greasy and street style – this might be something you need to try!
