Moving reviews from Yelp. This place is FAR better than the one across the street. I’ve been back multiple times but this was originally published 12/29/17:

Sometimes I crave shitty Mexican food. Other times I want something more authentic than the “order by number” experience. For times like those I need to find real places that serve real Mexican food. Typically, the best of those places are in slightly sketchy areas and this place is no different.

FYI – my go-by for authentic Mexican food is the torta. Typically it is made with warm, fresh teleras bread that’s toasted on the flattop before being stuffed full of the protein or proteins of your choice and fresh vegetables.

I found this place on a bitterly cold day and stumbled in for an early lunch, yep – I ordered a torta. I selected their Chicken Milanese principally because I have never had that one before and I like fried chicken. They pounded a piece of breast meat to about a 3/8″ thick before breading it and deep frying to golden perfection. The reason I say “they pounded” instead of “someone pulled it out of the freezer” is that it wasn’t an exactly uniform thickness like you get when you buy a commercially-produced chunk of chicken. I asked for avocado on the sandwich as well and they put about an entire avocado into my meal. Fresh lettuce, tomato slices, a shmear of both mayo and refried beans plus a little bit of onion completed the sandwich. It was substantial, piping hot and delicious!

I went there today for the first time and let me tell you the food was excellent. I had the red snapper, blew my mind. This will become a regular place for me.

This just might be the most Mexican place I’ve eaten at so far in or around St. Louis in all this time!

The food is really good. No cheese to ruin the flavours. You can distinguish the spices and ingredients used in each dish. We accidentally landed here because the actual destination was closed and stood right opposite.

I’m glad we found it!

Okay. Now I know there’s a difference between Tex-Mex versus authentic Mexican food. When you enter the place, there’s a grocery store and meat market in the front of the store. As you walk through the store, you see authentic Mexican items. Keep walking and you’re now in the restaurant. The food tastes nothing like any of the other Hispanic restaurants in the area. Mmmm …delicious, fresh food and great service.

Came here for Mothers day and it was a bad experience. First we got our chips and salsa or should I say cold crumb( attached a picture of what we got) plus our salsas didn’t had no flavor at all. The restaurant was quiet no music I felt like I was at a funeral. Some of our food was ok but my husband one of my kids and my self ended up with diarrhea. Im not coming back to this place.

If you like real authentic Mexican cuisine, this is your place. How much more authentic could it get – its attached to a Mexican Grocery store. The staff was super friendly and even the grocery store staff was super friendly. The staff does speak English and Spanish. The food wasn’t spicy unless you order it that way. They were quick with getting the food out to their customers. Friday evenings it does get full – so get their early.

Excellent Mexican food, with good drinks. The staff is friendly and there is a nice store attached that you can look through. Service is a little slow and it is off the beaten path however I highly recommend.
