Scarpas Brick Oven Pizza – Albuquerque, New Mexico

Scarpas remains a lodestar for New Mexicans who love brick oven pizza that despite being waifishly thin, is generously topped.

Our first time trying Scarpas was pleasant. We enjoyed the atmosphere and had a good server. We tried several personal pizzas including the Spicy Hawaiian and Pepperoni and Garlic. I liked the thinner crust and though the pizza itself was pretty good. Nothing amazing but better than any of the standard pizza places like Dions. I would come back again.

Really good value for the money. I had a half order house salad that was huge and delicious. I loved my spaghetti and meatballs. Others at the table had: a pepperoni pizza, cheeseburger pizza and a pancetta and mushroom pizza. Server was pleasant. Nice place to meet up with friends for lunch or dinner.

Absolutely the best pizza of my life here! Everything was delicious, and our server Beth was so amazing! She recommended a few things and we will be back based on her recommendations! Only took a photo of the salad because we gobbled up the pizza, soup, and pasta too fast!

Brought the family so we could try something new.. not a good choice.
Our server was great and polite.. she is definitely underpaid for having to work there.
The place was so hot and uncomfortable. Just waiting for our food, I had finished three glasses of water, that’s how hot it was inside..
The food was very good, but couldn’t enjoy it because of how hot it was in the building.
If you decide to stop in and eat here, wear shorts and a T-shirt and bring a small fan. For the price, go somewhere else, like where they actually have air-conditioning. This might be a good place to eat during the winter.

The red chili cream pasta dish was rich with a generous portion of chicken over it (fantastic in the sauce). Pizza was decadent. Service was in the background – there, but not obtrusive. Decor is fun. Only nitpick might have been having a slightly bigger table.

My absolute favorite restaurant in Albuquerque! Every dish we’ve ever ordered has exceeded our expectations! Do I have to mention the dessert? We sometimes go just for that! The consistency, the waitstaff, management all absolutely perfect!

Our family has gone to Scarpa’s for over 20 years. It’s like our family restaurant. This past year, however we have experienced some less than favorable moments. Tonight we arrived at 7 PM I let the hostess know that there would be seven of us. Instead of welcoming us and being customer oriented, she gave an attitude and stated well it’s gonna be a 30 minute wait and as if hoping I was going to say ok well no we weren’t going to wait. I looked at her and said OK. This didn’t seem to sit well with her. So we waited about 20 minutes, she approached me and asked so is your entire party here now? Well because she told me it was going to be 30 minutes I told my granddaughter just get to there in 20-30 minutes, no rush. We were lead to our table and the waitstaff said you do know that we don’t accept orders on food past 8 o’clock. It was approximately 730 at the time. I’m sorry it’s not my fault that we had to wait for a table for 20 minutes. The idea of telling your customer that you need to order because we’re not gonna take your order if it’s past 8 o’clock again does not seem like you really want my business. In terms of the food we’ve always been pleased with the food. However, tonight I found red chili flakes in my marinara sauce. My youngest grandson’s, spaghetti sauce was quite spicy, like a red chili sauce. My other grandson‘s spaghetti and meatballs appeared to have been scraped from the bottom of the pot with very little pasta and mostly sauce. So disappointed.

Although I had my first experience ever of having my order put in wrong and a long wait time to pick it up, the gentleman there remade my order without question. I was already upset, tired and almost in tears, but he calmly apologized took care of the situation without even asking me anything further. I appreciate that so much and that is the reason I will be going back for years to come. The food is always good and consistent and the service is amazing, even if they are extremely busy. Thank you for fixing the issue without making me feel worse!

We came twice in quick succession, the first time for dinner and we got two pasta dishes. They were very good but there was barely any shrimp in one of them.

The second time we came for an early lunch. The host did not greet us and seated us without a single word. The restaurant filled up VERY quickly for lunchtime and there were only two servers for the entire restaurant. Our server did his best to be quick and efficient but at one point he had 10 tables to take care of at the same time. He said it is always this way at lunch time which I find sort of silly. The tables are also piled so close to each other that it is a struggle to even walk between them. Set-up and service could be better!
