Really wanted to give a higher rating but a simple order like a salad gone wrong, it is unforgivable. A 3-star rating is still being generous though because my mom liked it here. Yes, it was a weekend and it was busy, but with the higher cost of everything, customers do have the right to be picky. Server was nice but she was frazzled. Ordered my salad with dressing and blue cheese on the side. When it was served, it was tossed with a good amount of vinaigrette dressing and the blue cheese was nowhere to be found. I do not like sending my food back due to negative history at another restaurant, so I just tried to make the best of the situation. Overall, the salad tasted, for lack of a better word, weird with the worst vinaigrette I have ever tasted. It is the first time I did not finish my salad. Even my son made a face in disgust when I asked him to try. The steak was forgettable at best. My first and only meal of the day was a salad that I wish never to encounter ever again. The fried zucchini was oily and burnt. Had to peel off the breading to get to the soggy zucchini. I did not even want to gamble on dessert.

I live in Marina Del Rey but decided to go to the LA Fair this year so on my way to Pomona I decided to stop in Covina for breakfast. I had already been to most of the others in the area so decided to go with Millie’s as I had never been there before. I would classify it as a country diner versus a retro diner. The menu has all sorts of American comfort food classics on it, and few elevated breakfast dishes. Inside is quite large with many different seating options including booths, tables, and counter. Our server was very polite and he mentioned that he was just about to have his seven year anniversary so it’s nice to see that this restaurant has a lot of regulars. Service is also really fast, our food came out shortly after ordering it. Parking is also very easy because there is a large free parking lot attached right out front.
The food itself was just OK, definitely not bad, but definitely not as good as some breakfast spots here in Santa Monica or MDR. For my meal I chose the California Avocado Omelette and thought it was pretty good, but felt the protein amount was minimal. It’s not quite as hardy nor do they have as large portions as some other places close by but I still enjoyed it. I think the pricing was fair and I would stop in again if I’m in the area, although I have had better breakfasts in the Eastern Los Angeles area.

Everything was fantastic. The food service everything. Prices were amazing so we’re portions more people need to go here so it stays open. Only 2 Millies left in operation! The store is old outdated but it’s cute like a Country Store. Lots of American Flags. It would cost a lot to remodel so the prices would go up, leave the way it is!!!

So first time here and I guess I had really high expectations since it looks like a really authentic diner. The atmosphere is absolutely fantastic and the service is great. I had the chicken fried steak and biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were great but the gravy was just ok. The eggs are small and not very flavorful. The hash browns were good and the coffee again just ok. The prices are good and you end up getting what you pay for. Like I said tho the restaurant is really cute and the service is good. Will give it a few months but would like to try again.
