I just moved to the area and I’m so happy to have discovered this place. Not only do they have a beautiful dining room and large patio, but they also allow dogs! Inside and out! They also brought them some ribs free of charge, what service!! That gives you 5 stars off the start. But the food was also super tasty and the prices are very inexpensive. I felt like I was in the 90’s. I got the meatloaf and it was delicious! Highly highly recommend!

I went to Delancey Street Restaurant with my friend, and we’re both in ninth grade. The food was amazing and surprisingly affordable, which we really appreciated. However, the atmosphere made us feel uncomfortable from the moment we walked in. We were stared at in silence, and it immediately felt like we didn’t really belong there.

Our waiter was polite and respectful, but many of the other staff members seemed tense, quiet, or unsure how to interact with us. Throughout the meal, we kept getting looks that added to the awkward vibe. It wasn’t aggressive, just not welcoming.

I respect the mission of the restaurant and think the food is genuinely great, but based on our visit, the service and atmosphere could be much more warm and inviting, especially for younger customers.

Lovely spot for a tasty (and quite affordable) meal with a strong mission. Delancey Street Restaurant is run by one of SF’s oldest halfway houses and serves as a way for people re-entering society to reacclimate to work and build up their resume. The staff (all of whom are residents at the halfway houses) are all outstanding and super friendly, and the food is delicious. I will admit that their meat-based options are better than the vegetarian / seafood options, so it’s an especially good deal if you enjoy your meats.

I visited Delancey Street Restaurant for dinner with a few friends and we split their onion strings, roasted shishito peppers, scallops, crab cakes, Singaporean noodles with tofu, and Moroccan vegetable stew. The onion strings are a Delancey classic — unlike traditional onion rings, they’re cut into thin strips (strings, as the name suggests), which makes them extra crispy when fried. The shishito peppers are also amazing and are perfectly roasted, especially when topped with a squeeze of lemon.

The entrees are all amazing, although, again, the meat-based ones are their specialty for a reason. Of the four entrees we tried, my favorite had to be the scallops — the scallops were beautifully seared, with a nice crunchy exterior shell and super tender center. The scallops were served on top of a mix of roasted corn and chickpeas, which was also super tasty. I loved the sweet pops of corn, especially with the added smokiness from the charring, and the chickpeas were a great bit of added protein and starch. The portions are also really generous, so you’ll definitely leave here happy and full.

I have to say, I was a bit underwhelmed. This was my first time eating here, and I will give it another try, but i definitely won’t be ordering the same items as this visit. The saving grace for me was definitely the wait staff, all smiles, honest reviews of the food, and helpful up until the last minute.

The food:

The deviled eggs were great, but making deviled eggs isn’t rocket science, but you get 3 halves, odd… why not 4? cutting an egg in half yields two halves.
The Matzo Ball soup – In my mind, a travesty, quite possibly the worst I’ve ever had. It was so over complicated, I didn’t / nor couldn’t finish the broth. Matzo Ball soup excels in it’s simplicity, and in all my years of Passover, that was the soggiest Matzo Ball ever. Lastly, one ball in a bowl of soup? A cup I could understand. My thought was if there is one, it had better be epic. This wasn’t epic.
I couldn’t decide on a entree, so I ordered two. The Pork Chop and as a reminder of my childhood, the London Broil. I couldn’t remember the last time I had London Broil.
The London Broil was very tasty, yet not exactly Hot. From other reviews it seems like keeping food hot is an ongoing issue, and with the Pork taking the longest, the LB suffered a bit. The Spinach looked very unappetizing, to me green beans would have been a better pairing.
The Pork Chop was a bit fatty for my liking, and the sides confused me. Sweet Snow Peas, I was not expecting that. Though the cook on the pork was solid.
Lastly the Ice Cream Sundae, very tasty and probably my own fault very messy. Hot fudge is made in house, and it tastes different, but a good different.

My date got the Sea Bass, and Kale with Parmesan. The Kale looked odd to me, but she enjoyed it.

Overall it got a B-/C+ but i’ll give it another shot, and I’m told the burger is solid, and the ribs.

Eating out is one of my favorite activities, but this is the first time in a long time I have gone to a new place in SF.

Highly recommend coming here! The food is tasty, great value for money, and the service is amazing. All the staff are extremely kind, genuine, and welcoming. The kale parmesan appetizer is really yummy, and so is the grilled cheese sandwich. Definitely pop by if you’re in the area and looking for good food, comfy ambiance, and top notch service.

Delancey Street Restaurant is a great spot with a relaxed, welcoming vibe that immediately makes you feel comfortable. It’s the kind of place that works well for both casual meals and meeting up with friends.

The food was solid and enjoyable, with a menu that offers a good variety of options. Everything we tried was well prepared and satisfying, making it an easy place to recommend for a dependable meal.

The atmosphere really adds to the experience. There’s a positive energy throughout the space that feels laid-back yet lively, making it a nice place to sit and enjoy your time without feeling rushed.

The staff was friendly and attentive, which made the visit even better. Everyone was welcoming and helpful, adding to the overall easygoing feel of the restaurant.

The location is another big plus. It’s within walking distance of so many things, making it a convenient stop whether you’re exploring the area or just looking for a good place to eat nearby. Delancey Street Restaurant delivers good food, good vibes, and a great location definitely worth checking out.

I’m vegetarian, and I had an absolutely fantastic experience at Delancey Street Restaurant! The tomato soup and minestrone soup were amazing, the veggie grilled sandwich was perfectly grilled and super tasty, and the salads were fresh and delicious. The location is great, the prices are very reasonable and easy on the pocket, and the overall dining experience was outstanding. It’s my go-to spot whenever I visit SFO — truly a gem. Highly, highly recommend!
