Seafood, burgers & cocktails served in a playful, indoor/outdoor atmosphere with games.

I give him a five the gentleman at the front desk was very accommodating. My little girl was t totally tickled about the swimming pool. Our room was first floor with an exit door 50 ft from the boardwalk. What more can you ask for? We had a great great time. Thank you so very very much. Oh yeah did I mention it was hurricane week? We couldn’t have had a better time. And I’d much rather support the local guy than all these big corporates.

4 Stars – Unique Vibe, Surprisingly Great Food
We were drawn to Ocean 27 for dinner because of the super cool dining setup giant rocking chair style booths with fold out tables. It was such a fun and creative concept (see video). The tables leaves swing out of the way so you can get in easily, then fold back into place to create a full, stable surface. Even while rocking, our food and drinks stayed perfectly put.
Live music added to the laid back beachy vibe, and the musician was genuinely good (see video). The atmosphere is what pulled us in, but we were pleasantly surprised by how good the food was. The chicken tenders were real, nicely-sized cuts, not the pressed or overly breaded kind. The chili cheese hot dogs were also great, and the hot dog was actually larger than the bun, something you don’t often find. The tater tots were standard, but the portion was generous.
All in all, the food exceeded expectations, especially since we weren’t even that hungry to begin with, which says a lot. If you’re looking for a casual spot with a fun, beachy atmosphere and surprisingly solid food, Ocean 27 is worth checking out. It’s not a fancy sit down place, but the inventive rocking chair booths alone are worth the visit.

The hotel has great views and clean rooms, and most of the staff were friendly. But the service at Ocean 27 bar was disappointing. The bartender, Lemi, passed me over multiple times and made a rude comment: “I’m a bartender not a babysit—you’re standing there on your phone.” I was ready to order; it was my granddaughter on her phone. And than he said “don’t be a Karen” Very unprofessional and embarrassing. Hyatt House is a nice hotel, but management needs to address this behavior.

Best Fish and Chips I’ve ever had! Plus they use Mahi Mahi, you don’t find that much. My wife was at a concert at VUH Stadium, so I was rolling solo. I had a wonderful time here. Just hung out and listened to some great music. Not sure who he was but, he was awesome, played a wide range of songs. It was a seat yourself place, I got a high-top, but they had a lot of swing booths. There was a cornhole setup right in the middle. They also had a sit up bar. My waitress was very friendly and fairly attentive, not sure if she was waiting on other areas. Bartender brought me my drink and grabbed me a water. Then a runner brought me my food. I had to get up a d chase her down to get some ketchup, but wasn’t a big deal. Food was really good like I said, best fish. Not a heavy batter, pieces not to thick, cooked.just right. Nice view and good breeze. This will be a new place I’ll have to hit when I come down.

So we really liked the thought of sitting on a swing bench to eat. The food is great! I had the “Crabby Patty” which is a yummy crab sandwich. The burgers were very good. As a standard they serve a healthy side of fresh cut carrots, celery and cucumber with humus. Fries are extra to substitute but very tasty! Love the atmosphere! Laid back, relaxing with chill music playing at just the right volume. We got the bucket drinks. They were full of good flavor. They have a corn hole set up to pass the time. Be ready to wait for a seat since they stay busy. On a perfect day the wind is just right, the shade from the swing bench relieves you from the sun and the atmosphere revives you. You will pay more to be here and an 18% gratuity is included, but I think it was worth it.

DON’T EAT HERE!!!!
If I could give a negative review, I would.
First of all, there are no waitresses. You have to go to the bar & wait about 15-20 minutes to place your order with the bartender. If you order a beer, they make you provide them with a credit card ‘to start a tab.’ But after eating the poor food, we didn’t want to stay to drink.
The parmesan tator tots were just plain tater tots with parmesan cheese sprinkled on them. Not worth $11!!!
The crab cake sandwich was probably the worst & most tasteless I’ve ever eaten. Not worth $19.
The Philly cheesesteak & onion rings were o.k. $20. Had to go back to bar & stand there for about 10 minutes to get catsup for onion rings.
Remember that the tax on the food is almost 15%!!!!!
Then they add a gratuity of $15.57 to the total bill for food of $69.50!!!!
Ended up with total bill of $95.28 cash ($98.60 noncash)!!!!
As you can see, we didn’t order extravagant items for dinner.
Then had to stand about 15 minutes at bar to pay bill!!!!!
Stay aware from here!!!!!!!

The food was fresh and hot. I got the chicken tenders and fries. It was nicely seasoned. I also got the watermelon jolly rancher drink and it was good. Unfortunately the employees were not sanitary. I observed people picking their nose and not washing their hands. Also touching their garments and hair as well then serving people’s food. Otherwise the food was pretty good.

Wish I could go negative. Door handles came off, bugs in the corner, strange stains on the front door and amongst the room. Top it all off I couldn’t even feel clean in the shower as dirty as it looked. Couldn’t get a refund so I opted for changing the room, which changed nothing. Ended up just leaving

Not typical hotel restaurant. High quality food. But what really stands out is the cooks really know how to cook. Their fried food is awesome, not a drop of grease on anything. Very rare a fry cook can do this. The fried shrimp will compete with anything on VA Beach, seafood restaurant or otherwise. The waitress Taylor was top notch and super helpful. I would without a doubt recommend this restaurant. We ate their twice and it was flawless both times. The drink prices were the only reason it did not get 5 stars. Thanks to the staff for a job well done.

The food was better than the food at King of the Sea but for the price it wasn’t what it needed to be. The games were fun but the $35 in fees added to my bill killed the buzz for that. Oh and the occasional gold fish being thrown from the balcony of one of the rooms above the restaurant took away from the experience.
